According to Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) is preparing to welcome foreign tourists, notably those from West Asia, to a secure atmosphere free of Covid-19.

Nancy stated that once the international crossings were reopened, the ministry was dedicated to facilitating tourism access to the country.

"Tourism from (West Asian) nations dominates the top five in terms of per capita expenditure, as well as having a longer average stay in the country than tourists from other markets," she said in a statement released here on Thursday (Oct 7).

Nancy made the announcement after meeting with executives from four multinational airlines in West Asia to discuss ways to work together to promote Malaysia as a preferred tourism destination.

Qatar Airways, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Air Arabia, and Emirates Airlines are the four airlines.

The group also addressed methods and plans to promote Malaysia in order to attract international tourists from other markets such as Europe, America, and Africa via their various airline networks.
