Norwegian WOOD

I once had a girl.

Or, should I say she once had me.

She showed me her room.

And the next morning, she started to laugh.

She told me she worked in the morning.

I started to laugh.

She told me to sleep, wasn't it good.

Norwegian wood.

And when I awoke I was alone

This bird had flown.

So, I lit a fire.

Isn't it good Norwegian wood?

Girls are so unpredictable.

Don't know about you.

Interesting back story to the song and Lennon & McCartney

Probably one of the best from the Beetles, ever.

Norwegian Wood.

So many decades ago, even though, seemingly only Yesterday...

OK, Charlie.

You know...

a.  We all have our own tastes and preferences concerning music and art.

b.  There is NO ultimate reference point which states one type of music or piece of art is preferable to another.

c.  Whatever you love, music or art, is GOOD.

d.  Except....I must say, Monet and Van Gogh cannot be beat...  (Still, if you do not agree...then...OK!)

Tks..Charlie.

Take care, Charlie.

Just my opinion but, after growing up in house that played The Beatles nearly constantly, the songs got better after they tried a little "chemical experimentation".

How old are you if you grew up in a house such as you say?

My guess is that you are about 30 years old, or less.

Why...

1970 was the end of the Beetles.

So, if your parents were listening to the Beetles, constantly, as you say...

Then, you probably were born around 1980.

I would say that you are about 35 years old.

Drugs do nothing for the music.

If music cannot stand on its own, without drugs, then the music is not real music.

For example:

For example:

Im 53. My parents loved The Beatles and had all their albums - we were a very musical house. Also, Jazz (mostly modern) and classical. My first memories are singing Lucy in the Sky.... . My brother loved The Beatles from a young age and played our parents albums a lot. Good memories - Im not a huge Beatles fan but i can listen to them. I still prefer music over TV.

Good example about the music without a drug influence by the way. But I would argue that drugs has lent more than a little to the creative process. The Beatles after LSD is a good example. Before Revolver they were the same as many other bands of the era - Stones etc. After that they became unique. Sgt Peppers for example.

Jazz is another great example - Miles Davis, Bird, Coltrane, Chet Baker and more were all giants of the genre. Coltrane and Parker particularly innovated and changed the way modern jazz was played. All raving dope fiends!!!

Classical music - Berlioz was on opium. Mozart liked a drink or three. Im sure Stravinsky was on some "altering" drugs but Im not 100 per cent on that one.

In my teens , ( 45 years ago ) backbacking around Greece, I met two Norwegian girls. Unfortunately they wouldn't. Luckily an Irish girl would. Wasn't it good, that Irish would.

Women, of any country, are thankful if a man has wood.
