Nice oldbeach vibe - anywhere in Phuket now?

I have a budget of about 40k a month for accomodation. I would like a nice place on the beach maybe with divers hanging out, beach bars etc. Basically not near high rise hotels . Any ideas during covid times?

In Kamala, check the places just up and down from the police station.  Don't know how nice, but pre covid they tended to be populated with a predominance of Europeans.

Dive bars tend to be around where the dive shops/boats are.  Goggle that, and look in those areas

"Diver" who had the beachfront bar on surin decades ago, now has a bar on the main road in Kamala>
plenty of small gh's on the beach in Kamala with restaurants open serving drinks

40,000 for a hotel/GH or apt/house?  rooms/month are available for under 8,000
you can easily get a place way under that in Kamala

Its true. 40k would get you a mansion with a staff at covid prices.

No divers, but Ao Yon south beach is nice clean beach and water, minimal amount of people. And you could probably get an AirbnB right on the beach. There is the Beach Bar on the next beach looking across to the giant Buddha statue. Anybody could tell you how to get there.

Look on Google Earth for the small, east facing beaches that are south of Chalong roundabout and north of the sea gypsy village. Usually deserted even in the high season.

I have no idea of their names.

curious;

what is the old beach vibe?
goa in the 70's?
kamala in late 90's, when the buffalo where walking the beach?
songkran, on soi bangla?

Koh Phang nga full moon party in the 80's?

Goa in the 70s. I was there!
