Dont confuse me
Talk about pulling in different directions! You've got one side actively promoting LoS and the other kicking the living C@%P out of it! Or maybe there's an underlying reason of totally ruining Pattaya so it can be 'transformed' into a family friendly resort?

Popular Post Will B Good
I know this is a Pattaya forum, however....... Sat in a small street bar, Nana Hotel car park last night. The following rolled up: 10 police in dark uniforms, 2 in light brown uniforms, 4 army personnel plus 2 'scouts' in plain clothes, undercover, but stuck out like sore thumbs. This was about 1930. They visited the SHA bars, ignored the street bar illegally selling alcohol, then had a "school photo" at the entrance to the Plaza. Then they all piled into a vans and went. 1

The restaurant stays within the law by NOT SELLING ALCOHOL but no mention of drinking alcohol. Saw this many many times last year during the same ban first time round. Absolutely ludicrous ban in my opinion, thinking having a drink at a restaurant will spread Covid... what a nonsense...

The only reason they would run away is because they are guilty of breaking the no alcohol law and as for the no alcohol laws in Thailand, it is not your country and you do not make the laws (thank Christ) so whether you like it or not or even if you don't agree with the law it is not your right to do as you please but you are obliged to obey the laws that are set in place by the law makers in what ever country you are in. Because Thai cops like to charge you based on your association with the guilty. If 10 tables are occupied, 2 tables have alcohol with 6 patrons each, but only 2 patrons are actually consuming alcohol at each of the 2 tables. Everybody at both tables where alcohol is found will be charged, and maybe all patrons at all tables will be charged. The cops don't do a detailed analysis of the site, if there is alcohol at the restaurant, most likely everybody in the restaurant will be charged. The innocent can fight it out in court, at great cost. Edited November 6, 2021 by Banana7 1

What part of that don't you understand? It is about the stupidest law ever written. Some laws are simply made to broken, and the breaking of those laws becomes a sign of positive defiance, and sometimes defiance in the face of stunning ignorance, is the only answer. Beer does not cause Covid, but highly selective shutdowns, corrupt Prayuth men at the borders, pathological fear of the optics of a lockdown early in the game, by cowardly men, and horrific leadership encourages the spread of it. Do you have any personal experience in the hiring process to become a police officer? If so, which US state? Do you have any clue as to how many police contacts result in a physical confrontation or use of force? Have you been to a police academy and what is taught as to what is a legal or illegal use of force, and the consequences for using such for without justification? There are plenty of thugs in this world, some wear uniforms, some don't. Some hide behind the anonymity of a keyboard. Simply not true. It is very difficult to convict a cop of violence or murder in the US. So, the consequences are not as you imply. There are a few reasons it is hard to convict a police officer, according to legal experts and attorneys who have worked on such trials: Police have considerable leeway to use force, can cite their training and are typically trusted by juries and judges. “The law favors the police, the law as it exists,” said David Harris, a law professor at the University of Pittsburgh and an expert in policing. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/04/04/when-police-kill-people-they-are-rarely-prosecuted-hard-convict/

The police fighting crime? They seem to prefer to oppress the people, forbidding them from expressing themselves, focusing on denying the use of sex toys, and preventing the enjoyment of a beer with dinner. The Thai police are the opposite of law enforcement. They are goons.

A government's job is to act in the best interests of the people, to protect the nation. It is not to interfere constantly in the private life of its citizens. But the control begins right from the time kids begin school, where every boy and every girl has to have exactly the same haircut. What is that supposed to achieve? Absolutely nothing. It's just control, teaching obedience, so they will become subservient little lambs in adult life too. And that is why the la majest law will never change or go away

WingFat
With every new topic and threads that have been appearing the last few weeks, the trip I need to make to LOS to conclude some personal banking biz will be a very short one. Rather than spend a few weeks as I had been planning, it will now more likely be a few days at most, and spend as little money as possible in the LOS. Then off to somewhere else that has their s**t together. And no, I am not a backpacker, sex tourist or medical tourist. But I do fall into the "wealthy" high-end tourist category the Thai gov't buffoon leaders claim to be after. Nope, not gonna bite on that rotten apple.
