WhiteBuffaloATM
Those with Tourist Visas are Classified “Tourists” regardless of any deeper Long Stay ties here. Just as those with Non- Immigrant (Retirement) Visas are mostly actual Immigrants with no intention of leaving Thailand but treated/ tolerated as (glorified)Tourists ( Long Stay) although they have effectively Emigrated to Thailand.

Which goes back to my initial point in that case; due diligence. At the start of all this, fair enough, you wouldn't expect asymptomatic to get dragged off to hospital. Now, no excuse for someone flying in to not have it covered. Edited November 7, 2021 by Salerno

If you are unfortunate to be seated nearby to that infected person you'll be quarantined as well. Thailand is barely 46% vaccinated so testing must continue for all arrivals. 46% of total population and highly unlikely tourists will be heading to Surin or Nakhon nowhere. In all major tourist destinations 70% at least are vaxed 1
Popular Post smew
Good attempt at revamping, but: Few tourists, mostly people who live there. I have no options, my family lives in Thailand. If not because of them, I would not consider Thailand for my vacation destination. Simply too many hoops to jump, quarantine of one day, expensive 150USD testing with inconclusive results that will force you stay in quarantine hotel longer( a scam between testing people and hotel operators) and restaurants / bar restrictions and curfew hours. Regulations that very from area to area. A 10 POSITIVE tests in 13.51 Present covid test on arrival and open the borders. 3

BusyB
Only read the headline but surely this is what we've been saying all along - just open up to fully vaxxed with a PCR -72hrs and be done with it. Maybe a tracker for 10 days. Please end these bureaucratic App nightmares that are purely there to salve timid military and bureaucrats' nerves at the expense of an entire people and industry.

They did not come for holidays, but rather to visit their families. The rest are expats, businessmen, foreign workers. They all came in on COE rules, as TP was just launched days before and with hiccups. They were holding their return in October, waiting for liberalisation of rules from November. There are 6 categories at TP application form (probably same was of CEO form), including travel/tourism, but those 13k are from all groups. Those statistics will be played up by TAT as success, but in reality they are failure 13 thousand people arrived. How do you know so much about them?

It's done on purpose, as the government propaganda, that thailand is wide opened, while in reality very few foreigners and tourists are coming. In phuket sandbox only some 25% were genuine tourists. Most likely the same trend will be with AS and TP. Just very early steps to true opening. As to true covid positive travellers that figure is changing in every government report. They might even downplay it on purpose, as not to scare tourists. They haven't mentioned those in close contact to infected, who also are required to be put in hospital or hospitel for 10 days isolation 'tourists arrived from the United States (1,593) Germany (1,592) and the United Kingdom (1,006), followed by Japan (935), Switzerland (624), Sweden (511), South Korea (499), Netherlands (363), UAE (350) and China (345). 83 tourists arrived in Chiang Mai from South Korea, while 277 Russian tourists arrived in Phuket on Saturday on a flight from Moscow. The arrivals referred to in the headline were foreigners not Thais. What are you going on about and why? Most of the 10 positive people were most likely vaccinated, and because of that go through a mild case. A simple quarantine should do the trick. What I'm interested to know is what happened to those sitting close to them on the plane. Will they be quarantined and who pays for it. Because they do not have Covid-19 there insurance will not pay… am I right

I wonder how many tourists' insurance policies actually cover hospitalization when they don't need medical treatment. Mine certainly doesn't and I have a very good insurance with high coverage on just about anything. No exclusions. No non-Thai insurer is gonna cough up the costs for a hospital when you can just go into isolation until the infection is gone. I really hope Thailand will review their policy. It's also the very reason why I will never have myself tested here. I am fully vaccinated but in no way covered for aforementioned high costs. I've been in the country since before the crisis started. I told friends and family about this situation and it's keeping them far away from this country for the time being. No one wants to risk being hospitalized for no reason.
