ThailandRyan Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Another plateau seems to be forming it would appear, but as per my statement last week it is a bumpy ride as the numbers drop ever so slowly. I hope that the testing gets better since they increased the ability to test up to 120k a day. Not going to help much if the only reason they increade the ability was based on tourism. Friend from the US is arriving next week on the test and go scheme, and was told by her hotel she will be tested upon arrival, no matter what time and will have the results back by noon, or 24 hours later at the latest 2

The whole idea is to decrease testing. If they do increase testing it won't be for testing the community because if they did that infection numbers will increase. 3

As per my post the reason for increasing testing was more than likely for the Test and Go and tourism folks so they could get the results back sooner than 2 to 3 days as has been the past practice. 1

This and others like it are the therapeutics the world has been waiting for and will facilitate a real sense of normal next year knowing that even if vaccinated you can still have a drug to help should you become symptomatic and sick especially with all the waning in vaccines. 500 million is far from enough unfortunately and will only garner a small amount of courses. Lets hope they push ahead with this and the announcement is actually actioned rather than wait till its too late as with the vaccines procurement. Last I read this was for 50,000 courses? Hopefully generic versions of this will also be available from other countries that produce it cheaper since Thailand has not been allowed to do that this time. 4

Its looks like this will be easily achieved and according to this estimate the date for that will be the 17th Dec, lets see if thats correct. Thailand is fortunate to have the one million volunteer health workers who have and continue to help in this epic vaccination roll out. Thailand is also very fortunate not to suffer from any major vaccines hesitancy issues aside from some pockets in the south and thats just down to not trusting the government historically not vaccine brand. Unlike some countries where vaccines are literally nearing their shelf life, all brands here get snapped up quickly. Had Thailand got this rolling as it should have done before then many lives would have been saved and that can never be forgotten for those that perished and their loved ones. However credit where credit is due with the current roll out.
