Thailand on Wednesday (November 10) reported 6,978 new COVID-19 cases, 7,697 recoveries and 62 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 1,960,610

▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,845,758

Wednesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,989,473 with 19,826 deaths.

The news comes as the Cabinet has approved the allocation of a 500 million baht budget for the purchase of Molnupiravir drug for COVID-19 treatment.

The Cabinet has approved the additional 1.335 billion baht budget proposed for COVID-19 response, which includes a 500 million baht budget for the procurement of Molnupiravir antiviral. The procurement will be handled by the Department of Medical Services. Deputy Government Spokesperson Traisuree Taisaranakul said the approved budget will be allocated from the annual budget for the 2022 fiscal year, and the government’s central budget.

The Office of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Public Health will be receiving 528.4 million baht, while the Department of Disease Control will be receiving 58.165 million baht. The remaining 248.38 million baht will be allocated to the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine.

One quarter of a billion baht for this. More money in mates pockets. Just more junk to cure those covid asymptomatic people of their symptoms.

Another plateau seems to be forming it would appear, but as per my statement last week it is a bumpy ride as the numbers drop ever so slowly.  I hope that the testing gets better since they increased the ability to test up to 120k a day.  Not going to help much if the only reason they increade the ability was based on tourism.

Friend from the US is arriving next week on the test and go scheme, and was told by her hotel she will be tested upon arrival, no matter what time and will have the results back by noon, or 24 hours later at the latest

Plenty of wiggle room in the test results then for when they will be back, hopefully not as long as Richard Barrow's which turned out to be 28 hours.

Why would they increase testing? The whole idea is to decrease testing. If they do increase testing it won't be for testing the community because if they did that infection numbers will increase.

As per my post the reason for increasing testing was more than likely for the Test and Go and tourism folks so they could get the results back sooner than 2 to 3 days as has been the past practice.

Another encouraging set of data all round sees the official number of recoveries once again exceeding the official number of new cases, along with a drop in patients with a serious condition.

Latest up to to date official data from the worldometer ranking table for deaths/million of population over the past 7 days, including yesterday’s numbers, shows Thailand up one place to 70th in the world, 28 places below the UK.

Same table shows Thailand remain at 14th in Asia, 5 places below the Philippines and 3 places above Vietnam.

The number of deaths over the past week remained very low at 6 deaths/million of population, trending down 10% over the 7 day period, with the number of official infections also falling 10%. .
