Re-Entry to Thailand after 8 night stay

Hi Everyone,

 

New to the forum and have found it extremely informative in relation to the Test and Go program.

Something I am unsure about so this seems like the best place to ask.

My wife and I (both vaccinated) are flying out from London on 12 December to Bangkok and will be completing the 1 night AQ requirement upon arrival. We are staying in Bangkok until 22nd December and then flying to Sydney for Christmas with my family until the 28th December and then flying back to Bangkok until 5th Jan and then back to the U.K.

Am about to book the Test and Go hotel but one question i had which relates to the Thailand Pass registration is that it asks for the 'estimated date of departure'. I am unsure whether to put the estimated departure date as 22nd December when we fly to Sydney, or just to put it as 5th Jan when we fly back to the UK.

 

Am assuming on our return to Bangkok from Sydney we will need to go through another 1 night Test and Go scenario?

You will use December 22nd for your departure date and January 5th for the 2nd Thailand Pass.

You will have to get new covid tests when returning and do the night at a AQ or SHA+ hotel for the 2nd trip

You know it is home quarantine in Sydney 14 days or until a negative COVID-19 test is received after 7 days for full vaxed people?  

 

Did you check you can leave in this period?

 

I am trying to work out all the requirements for SYDBKKSYD travel and you look to be cutting it fine, but have a look at what I compiled so far.

Be aware Sydney (NSW) has just changed Premier (the old one got caught up in the anti corruption commission), the new one is a 'let it rip'er, it's entirely possible by the time you are to go to Sydney the rules may have changed.

Some states (for interstate travel) already have the neg PCR test before entry, again on entry and 1 day/night home quarantine, allowing time for the second PCR test result, then freedom if not infected.

This same procedure is likely to be the case for international fully vaccinated PAX when the borders open, unvaccinated will still need 14 days quarantine, but may not even be allowed on a plane so could be a moot point.

The NSW Gov website states otherwise which we have checked extensively before planning trip. https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/travel-restrictions/quarantine

International arrivals from 1 November 2021

People arriving in NSW who are fully vaccinated will not need to quarantine. They must:

• have a COVID-19 test after arrival
• prove full vaccination as recognised by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and have their vaccination status verified by the process determined by the Commonwealth.

I am an Australian Resident, forgot to mention. Wife has an exemption to fly to Australia as she is immediate family

First up ....hope it all goes well.

I find your plan almost scary but you must have done your research.

I'm also Oz and hoping to visit early next year for slightly longer. Couple of weeks. I'm sure I'm not alone.

It's a long way off but if you could post a report of your experience after it's all done then guessing that would be a good read and be of interest to many.

Hopefully not too many negatives.

BTW are your flights Thailand to/from Oz direct. Which carrier..

Thank you. Initially my wife and I were only going to Thailand over Xmas and New Years as it was too expensive to go direct to Australia from the UK and they had not yet opened up the borders to non-residents so we were not sure if we would even be able to go.

Once they opened up and we knew my wife could apply for an exemption to travel with me, we then decided to see how much a return flight was from Bangkok to Sydney. Price was decent with Thai Airways so we booked. It is a direct flight from BKK to Sydney. 

The only annoyance is the whole Thai Pass and excessive amount of PCR tests we need to do. Not only do we do the Test and Go, but then departing for Australia, need to have a negative PCR, so will do that in Bangkok. Cheapest I have found is 1000baht through the Thai Travel Clinic which we will get done a few days before our flight. 

Then in Sydney, we then need to do a PCR possibly on arrival according to stuff i've read online. But then another PCR to depart Sydney back to Bangkok. $100 AUD for that. Then another AQ Test and Go when we land in Bangkok again. 

To he honest, we are thinking of ditching Bangkok on our way back from Sydney and then going to Phuket instead and do Test and Go there and stay there for the remainder of our time until we return to the UK on 5th Jan.
