The strongest indication yet from Thai officialdom about vaccination sends a strong message to anti-vaxxers or the unvaccinated.

 

Get jabbed or be faced with being unable to do very much in public in Thailand. 

 

Senior Ministry of Health official Dr Kiatphoom Wongrajit suggested as much as he announced the latest figures for vaccination in Thailand.

 

He said that those that had not been vaccinated would be sought out by moves originating in universities and medical arenas with provincial governors also spearheading the drive to get the job done.

 

The message will be clear and contain a mild threat that if you don't have at least one jab you won't be welcome among the rest of people.

 

Effectively you'll be a leper among the healthy.

 

A big drive will be mounted to find the unvaccinated between November 27th and December 5th - Thai Father's Day. 

 

The authorities want to ensure that targets are met as soon as possible.

 

So far things are going well, suggested Dr Kiatphoom with 100 million doses expected to have gone into arms by the end of November.

 

Right now it's 85 million with 45.3 million having had one dose, or 63% of the population, 36.8 million two doses (52.1%) and 2.7 million three doses (3.9%).

 

Now Thai media said that the CCSA target is those who have not been vaccinated at all with a strong possibility that doing much in public in Thailand will be impossible if you have not had at least one jab.

Like all laws, this one would need enforcing. I really can't see that happening after the first two weeks.

Not a choice for us. 2 of our family cannot have any vaccine for medical reasons. Of course the Thai govt isn't even considering people like us. This sucks.

Kind of sucks for those who've paid for Moderna.

 

 

Planning to go to the Motor Expo next month at Impact Center. The website claims only double vaccinated -or- those taking a test at the door will be allowed entry. That's that.

Except  the unvaccinated are not lepers and just as "healthy" as the " multi jabbers"

I don't wish to shift too much from the main issue here, which is essentially the possible imposition of restrictive & puntive social sanctions against those unvaccinated, but could someone just explain to me why I might be incorrect in thinking that if vaccinated people can still become infected with C19.....and if vaccinated people can still infect others with C19, why should it be assumed that UNvaccinated people are a particular risk to others? (A risk to themselves, yes.) It's a genuine query and I am happy to be shown up as having faulty logic or as being uninformed if that is the case. 

 

(I am fully vaccinated btw, but only cos I could see exactly this kind of s**t coming down the road.....and lo, here it comes.)

Where is the paid for months ago Moderna with no refund my Mrs asks in some ones pocket no doubt ????

Likewise, all Vaccine since a kid, so cannot have flu vaccine like most do, penicillin, tetanus many Med's and a number of blood pressure pills = severe allergic reactions - did try the Pneumonia vaccine part 1 last year = 4 night in Hospital 

 

Do have a Covid Vaccine Exemption letter from the Hospital, but is there some other card/booklet you must have ?

I'm sorry to hear that. We have similar here. Our adverse reactions were before coming to Thailand, so I'm honestly not sure about getting an exemption here. And even if we did, I'm wondering just how many would honor it. TIT

Yes this will be the only thing that works. I don't care about being denied entry to a restaurant etc but i need the visa.

Your thoughts are correct . You can still be infected with Covid 19 even though you are fully vaccinated.  However your symptoms are likely to be much less severe than if you were unvaccinated.    Unvaccinated people ARE a risk to themselves. If they choose not to protect themselves, this (these rulings) are a means by which the authorities can reduce the chances of unvaccinated people  mixing with others and becoming infected.

Not necessarily a requirement for an extension. But maybe a requirement in order to get into the immigration offices. No green check  on the app means you can't enter immigration buildings.

The genuine answer is it has zero to do with health & logic

Money lost? We had paid for Moderna and a number of other expats we know paid as well and this is on top of the thousands of Thai people who have also paid for Moderna just like we did. Most expats in Chumphon provence ended up getting the Pfizer jab thanks to the USA for free, greatly appreciated. My wife has just had a Pfizer jab two days ago thank you to the Thai goverment and other Thai people we know have had AZ in the past few days. We will try to use the Moderna as a booster if possible as no refunds will be given.

This will create an immediate market for an "agent" to provide the relevant documentation and QR codes.

 

I wonder which politician made the highest bid for the franchise?

This is already reality. Koh Samui and Koh Phangan immigration implemented this since 15th November. No vax or no test = no service
