Thailand New 10 year Visa

If it is 10 year visa, why do you need to renew after 5 years?  That does not seem logical.

Why do not they just keep in simple?  You need to invest this much (a set amount) and we will give you the visa.  To have both a set investment amount and a yearly requirement seem to complex the issue.  Some people have the money and some people are able to make a good salary, why require both?

The visa can only be issued for 5 years according to current regulation. It is simple matter of requesting another visa when the first one is expiring.

It is the same for Thai Elite visas that allow a total stay of up to 10 or 20 years.

Thai PM approved the 10 year visa scheme.  Hope it will roll out soon. Does anyone have any idea about how long the application to approval will take. Thanks
