I need to get tested after having a vasectomy 3 months ago.  Can any local clinic do this, or does it need to be a hospital?  Can you just walk in with a specimen produced at home and get it done, or does the specimen need to be produced there and then?  Any idea of the cost?

Thanks

Not sure about the bring from home route. But cost isn't expensive, at hospital, it was a few thousand baht including a private room for an hour, results back in an hour.

Can't be done in a clinic except a specialized one e.g. fertility clinic or family planming facility.

Some labs can do it but given what is at stake I wouldn't risk it. Also, it is not as simple as just giving a specimen to test. You need the guidance of a urologist or fertilty/FP specialist as to how many tests etc. (One negative test may not be enough).

I am surprised the place which did the vasectomy does not provide this service.

I had the vasectomy at PDA in Bangkok. They expressly said I'd have to go elsewhere where for the test. I was a little surprised.

Again, given what is at stake, I urge you to see a uroligist. Many recommend tests once a month x 3 consecutive months to be sure. A single test may not be enough.

You can't get that sort of guidance from a lab.

According to this lab only place here in Pattaya,  a semen analysis is only 200b.

If you're not in Pattaya, I'd try a lab only place near you.

I used them, Pattaya Intl wanted 1500 baht once bill padding and unnecessary nurse fees added.

Both give you a bottle, take it home and do when you can, they ask for it within 30 minutes
