Popular Post webfact
Public Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul Thailand’s Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is urging unvaccinated people, who are waiting for Pfizer or Moderna vaccines booked with private hospitals, to cancel their bookings and get free jabs of Pfizer vaccine at state vaccination facilities. The minister stressed the urgent need to speed up vaccinations, to reach the target of 100 million doses administered by the end of this month. He made clear, however, that the Public Health Ministry will not negotiate refunds with the Private Hospital Association if they do abandon their bookings now “because it is not the duty of the ministry to do so”, adding that he warned previously that there is no need to make paid-for bookings with private hospitals. Popular Post mokwit
I met Anutin once. Had a 1 hour meeting with him, albeit long before he was in Government. The fact that I am not saying anything should be telling. 10 4 2

Popular Post 4MyEgo
Cancel our paid for Moderna shots, you are truly a blood-y idiot. This is an attempt to disgrace the private hospital consortium that ordered the vaccines while this government was playing besties with China. Does he realise the paid for Moderna doses are non refundable, is he suggesting a time and day that we can have these jabs for free, yeh, I didn't think so. Popular Post Karma80
I placed an order with a hospital to hedge my bets. I knew at the time it was likely to be money down the drain and viewed it as insurance. I am not disappointed. However, this muppet is a joke and would do well to remember why people felt compelled not to rely on the government, and who was the face of that failure. I would assume you will be using your paid for Moderna shot as a booster some time in the New Year as I hear we will all be needing boosters. March/April is when I will be getting my booster, no disappointment here. 17

That or nothing, so seems better than nothing.. The booster here was an AZ 20% dose intradermal shot - no thanks. Not that I don't think it wouldn't be effective, but nobody is going to recognize that and it would muck up any chance of a decent booster or revaccination. Not available now anyway. So, the Moderna shot will be a booster if it turns up. Or more likely, as many friends I know here, I will take a trip back home and get vaccinated completely again. Just properly this time. 3 1

ukrules
I was in a local Bangkok Hospital last week sometime and they had a 'booth' there with Moderna branding on it and about 6 or 7 rows of about 5 seats set up. It looked like they were about to get busy.
Popular Post connda
They can't give them away now? "Too bad you pay for Moderna, but now come get free Pfizer shot quick-quick?" Well, then it's not free. It cost you the opportunity cost of the Moderna vaccine you paid for. So the real question becomes - why is Anutin pushing Pfizer? Cui bono - who benefits? 4 1

Will the Thai Red Cross forgo the Moderna they ordered with the PHA now that Thailand has received 1 million Moderna doses free from the USA? TallGuyJohninBKK
Quote he warned previously that there is no need to make paid-for bookings with private hospitals. Given that the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines have been shown in numerous studies to be the most effective of all the currently available COVID vaccines... Have ANY Thai government purchased Pfizer or Moderna doses actually arrived for use in the government's own free for the public vaccination program as yet??? I don't think so! The original round of Pfizer doses that Thais and farangs could get in recent months was donated by the U.S. government to Thailand. And the current round of Moderna doses was acquired mainly by the Thai Private Hospitals Assn. for dispensing by their member hospitals on a pay for play basis Correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAICR, all of the government vaccine acquisitions that have made into into the government's own FREE vaccine distribution program for the public thus far (not counting plans for future deliveries) have been their own locally produced AZ (along with some other foreign AZ donations) and either donated or purchased Sinovac and Sinopharm doses from China. Popular Post jerrymahoney
In June 2021 when the THG/Moderna offer was first made, Thais and non-Thais who wanted Moderna, Pfizer, or J&J were still flying to the mainland US or Guam JUST to get a 'free' vaccine. So versus that cost and all that would entail, the THG offer seemed a reasonable bet ... and still may work out.
Popular Post ikke1959
okay deal... but you pay me to get the Pfizer for the money I paid to the hospital.....Nobody has a disadvantage ... I have my money back. I am vaccinated for free, the hospital doesn't need to pay back and the unused Moderna can be used to vaccinate children 3

I know the BKH in our area is doing the next lot on the 4th December (lot 2) which will take them to 13,000 out of 28,000 and we are between 13,000-14,000, and extending it for me as a booster (single) to March/April isn't a problem as far as the hospital have advised, understanding people have had other vaccines while waiting, e.g. Pfizer x 2 here. If they don't arrive by then I will see if I can get a booster elsewhere, that said, I don't mind paying again, even if I lose out on the Moderna that I have paid for, i.e. unless I have to have it earlier than March/April. Protecting whatever life I have left in me for whatever duration is left is paramount to me. So I will take what I have to if it's available. For the record, here in Ubon Ratchathani, free Pfizer shots have been available from Sappasit Hospital in various locations around the city for 5 months and you'd be hard pressed to find any foreigners in this and surrounding provinces that haven't taken advantage of this. To this day Pfizer is available at the Main OTOP building on Changsanit Road...we were there yesterday, 23 Nov 2021. 2

There are a lot of people currently selling their Moderna shots as they don't feel they will need a booster at this point in time, so if you haven't a back up plan, you can always buy that persons Moderna shots for a booster, however might be expensive at 3,300 baht for the two shots, albeit you will only require one shot. The above said, I paid about that for a Pneumonia shot in May, so it wouldn't bother me if I had to pay that kind of money to get a booster, something for you to consider, although I did read that the Thai government ordered 30 million doses of Pfizer yesterday, but let's not forget who will get the shots first.
