Same for doctors, most doctors I've met are very ordinary, but much higher earners than scientists, I feel no urge to worship their knowledge as superior to my own. In fact in the cases of three Thai doctors I've encountered, my knowledge turned out to be far superior to theirs.

i have the SAME  experience .     Misdiagnosis.   Prescribing dangerous drugs (black box warning) when not called for.   No care or critical diagnosis .   

So, yes,  google can be your friend in these cases.  ( but not as for Covid,  as they Censor all opposing views)

1 doctor did it wrong so all doctors are not as good as the information i find ont he internet.

 

Point being that too many scientist all agree to be wrong. Now in your experience one that i truly believe happened and is possible its one Dr making a mistake. I make mistakes in my work. However if work is checked and verified by many many scientists its a different story.

 

Had you had multiple Drs then chances were you would have gotten a better diagnose. Sometimes the one Dr who says otherwise is right but in most cases that is not so.

We both earn our money and income separately and have sex freely when either of us want to .

Of course id lose a debate, hard to debate with crazies, same like with debating with religious people. 

 

I certainly don't think i always know the truth, but i have logic of reasoning on my side. 

 

Just ask yourself how many times a person like "Copernicus" comes around and how many times those people that pretend to be the one that knows better then the current consensus are wrong.

I agree that there is a huge problem of dialogue on the net. However I do not entirely agree with your diagnosis as presented in the quote above.

 

I have been a British Liberal Progressive for half a century (I mention "British" simply because these things mean different things in different English-speaking countries).

 

Conspiracy theories have always been with us. Some are pure fantasy, some have a highly distorted kernel of truth, some are genuine and discovered by painstaking investigative journalism. But I was stunned at the growth of QAnon type conspiracies.

 

So far so good.

 

But what alarms me almost as much as QAnon is the growth of what I'd call militant progressives who are as closed-minded as QAnon, though perhaps not as pernicious.

 

In some ways this new brand of militant progressive alarms me even more than QAnon, because I expect the hard core right wing to be a bit nutty. But I never used to expect that from people who consider themselves to be hard core left (even if some of their interpretations of Marx have always seemed inappropriate to the modern world).

 

There is also a brand of alternative (left leaning) Libertarians. I knew many in my youth. "Tune in, turn on, drop out" was the mantra. Numerous friends went to live in tepee villages in Wales. I myself lived in a commune. Sadly for some of those people, their anti-authoritarianism has morphed into QAnon territory.

 

Liberalism requires tolerance of dissent. That is essential to the Liberal process. If someone cannot tolerate dissent, they are not a Liberal. (Dissent is not to be confused with fake news of course.)

 

Just for clarification of terms, as I know these terms may mean different things in the US. I am a social Liberal Progressive (in British terms). I am not an economic neoliberal. In US politics I would probably identify with Bernie Sanders who advocates the type of society that I grew up with in the UK - universal free at the point of use healthcare and free at the point of use university education. Without these two policies I personally don't believe a country can call itself civilised. Nor do I believe the carrying of automatic assault weapons to indicate a civilised country (or any weapons for that matter).

 

It's a fascinating subject, but today I work, so I can't spend a lot more time on it.

Same with me was a bit of a hyperbole as Brit thinks sex is a product.  I make enough, but the fact is the current one makes more then me. Not that I have a problem with paying for sex. I am just of the opinion that is not the case in every relationship. But Brit by his own admission is emotionally scarred by his English ex so I don't blame him.

 

But to then say he is a marxist and taking advantage of low wages in a country get woman and proudly talk about was a bit too much.

Most people and places are open and free now, with some travel limitations,  so what happened to the master plan?

Some got rich and took advantage of a pandemic but it doesn't mean it was created through a conspiracy. 

The point is you can have thoughts on what might be but having that leap of faith to believe it is true is  a step too far. Like posting on the 'Do you believe in God' thread.

Yes.  We see it as a global pandemic created by the release of a deadly virus.  With millions dead, millions more hospitalized and millions more suffering potentially life long consequences.
