Thailand’s National Health Security Office (NHSO) has agreed to provide six additional free health services to holders of gold health cards from January 1st.

According to Assoc. Prof. Prasobsri Ungthavorn head of a subcommittee responsible for designating the type and scope of health services for gold card holders, they will be eligible for:

BRCA1 and BRCA2 breast cancer screening (blood test to determine changes in DNA which increase the risk of breast cancer). Dr. Prasobsri said that early detection of breast cancer among people whose families have records of DNA mutations means they can seek early treatment.

So just who are these NHSO Gold health card members. What does one need in order to be a gold health card member.......

Quote "will cost the NHSO about 245 million baht per fiscal year, including 238.59-million-baht leftover from last year’s budget."

Do you add the two figures together, subtract one of them from the other one or just throw some dice?

What is the actual cost next year and subsequent years and who pays for it?

It's simply another name for "Universal Coverage", or as it's colloquially known, the "30 baht scheme".

In short, all Thai citizens living here are covered.

Are there other cards aside from the gold card, for example bronze, silver, platinum?

How about us "slightly less than Thai" who are paying into the social security system?

That said, I may have man-boobs but how prevalent is breast cancer in males??

You are covered by the SSS.  Its benefits are slightly better than UC (though not quite as good as CSMBS, which is the civil servants' scheme).
