Critics said on Friday they are concerned that high PM 2.5 levels may become a threat to residents of Bangkok and urged the government to resolve environmental issues.

Bangkok’s air condition has continued to worsen over the past week.

Critics say that the government has to do more to contain the pandemic. Jessada Denduangboripant, a professor of biology at Chulalongkorn University told Thai Enquirer that the government has been negligent in preparing for air pollution control.

Another failure from a government with an alternative agenda.

Our neighbour is currently burning his rice stubble and a grey haze is enveloping the village. It's nasty outside and my eyes are streaming.....a Police Car just drove past and did <deleted>.

They are doing <deleted> a..l and could not care less. Not only Bangkok or Chiang Mai; same in Nong Khai. Apart from the yearly haze which starts earlier each and every year we also are blessed with a sludge of dark God-only-knows-what from the nearby Thai Beverage brewery boiling up some stuff which results in local firewater and possibly beer.
The stench is terrible and it is pumped out, across the main road into some fields and those living nearby (like me) may enjoy this total disregard on sustainable liquid waste management. Never got access to the big wig in said booze factory and the local police - upon enquiring - just had a good laugh.

So, what exactly do you expect, whose responsibility and who is in charge?

Would that agenda be cleaning up the sex industry ????

Have to admit, I hate it, but not as much as driving the kids to school in the thick of it, thank Buddha they don't have to line up for assembly for 45 minutes and that it's only around for 2-3 hours of the morning, otherwise I would be out of here.

The above said, I try and stay focused on the positives, 1,2,3,4, um...

Government is doing what it always does They order the local council to fix the problem and then say it is being done.

I'll just leave this here, anyone aware of similar efforts in Thailand?

What else is new? Needless to say this pollution will no doubt be a powerful magnet for “quality” tourists.

Understatement of the year. The government has been shockingly negligent in this respect for decades already, not just in Bangkok, but maybe even more so in the north as well. They are only in it for the money, and other than that they simply don’t have any interest at all in running the country in a somewhat decent manner, that’s just too hard, too much work, and more than probably also beyond their capabilities.

This subject is put in the same box as road accidents...........pending.

Every year after the annual flooding they do nothing to resolve, they blow hot-air at the annual PM 2.5 problem that they do nothing to resolve.

In the cities they need to focus on the vehicles; in the rural boondocks they need to focus on the Ag burning and forest arson.

What will they do?  Kick the can down the road to next year.

They are doing quite a lot to encourage air pollution.  Air pollution and the desired goal of high end tourists dont really go together.  High enders like to breath fresh air.
