Surin Elephant Festival

Turns out will be in Surin when the elephant festival is on (25-26th Dec). Assuming that it still goes ahead and doesn't get cancelled at the last minute would appreciate any input from those in the know as to which day is the best day to go, what time to be there, how long it all takes, what not to miss etc etc. Can't seem to find any kind of detailed programme online anywhere.

Going from memory on this; while I haven't been looking for one, I haven't seen a published schedule this year.  Elephant Breakfast at the Elephant Traffic Circle, at about 7:00 a.m. on the Saturday.

It's really good but I am surprised at the date. It's usually in November. It was cancelled last year I think. Good luck. It's a blast. I stayed a few days. The main events take place in the stadium but the elephants are all over town. There are elephant sanctuaries on the outskirts of town. There is a general fairground and a v good reggae bar in town. Plenty of nice hotels near the stadium..
