I ended up having to cancel the test and go in Phuket. I tried for 3 days, but ran out of time for the Thailand Pass. I had to book in Bangkok where the tests are included in the hotel package.

Very strange, and I'm no computer illiterate. I tried every trick in the book. Browsers, different emails, VPNs++ I also emailed with support for a while, but got nowhere.

  • The confusion is understandable but https://www.thailandpsas.com/ (PSAS) is indeed the official website for the Phuket Sandbox RT-PCR test payment system...   It is run by a private company

So just to be clear, one has to pay for the RT-PCR Test to be taken in Thailand on Day 1, in advance (even before starting to apply for Thailand Pass)?

And booking a Day 1 stay with an SHA+ hotel, which package also includes airport pickup and RT-PCR test, does not make a difference regards having to pay for the RT-PCR test separately?

If the SHA+ hotel package includes airport pickup and RT-PCR test, let them do it for you.  The RT-PCR test price is the same (about 2100THB) and you don't have to deal with so many parties.  But confirm with the SHA+ hotel that they will book the RT-PCR test for you.

@Kopitiam So I should let the hotel arrange the test, and have them send me some kind of confirmation or receipt, that I should then submit when applying with Thailand Pass?

if you come via phuket you must pay the PCR by yourself, on a specialised web site that is built in the thaland pass system. if you fly to bangkok first, the

1st day hotel price will include the PCR test.
