Customs officials at the Hualampong postal sorting office where packages from abroad are checked intercepted a big consignment of what Thais call "Yaa E" - ecstasy.

Xrays revealed something suspicious in instant coffee packages surrounded by lots of Kit-Kats, a popular chocolate.

Inside two boxes that investigators believed had the same source were 19 bags of drugs weighing in at 23 kilos worth 50 million baht, reported Daily News.

The consignment had originated in Germany and been sent to Thailand on a ship. It was then destined to end up in Laos.

Customs spokesman Chaiyuth Khomkhun said this was the first time such a method had been used.

Investigations are taking place to discover who the recipient may be and where the drugs came from.

A bit of a rash statement. First time such a method has been busted would be more like it.

Call me naive but i always thought that it was the other way around, manufactured in Thailand and sent overseas.. but what do i know?...

Not for xtc seems not to be made in Thailand. Its actually not such a harsh drug and its hard to over use.

Because unlike for instance alchohol you can't take it every day. If you take it one day you have fun, however if you take it again the next day nothing will happen. It releases your own serotonin, so once that is released your body will have to build it up again.

So using it multiple days in a row is not possible (i used it in the Netherlands quite a nice drug instead of violence it promotes love and talking its a great party drug). Its actually classed below alcohol in how harmful it is.

A 50 mm baht drug bust these days is like couch change.

Photo from a recent bust.

Note the table size, number of tables, number of officials, number of SWAT, use of wide-angle lens which are metrics to gauge the size.
