2 Doses of Sinovac Followed by AstraZeneca/Pfizer Give High Immunity Against Omicron , Says Dr. Yong

BANGKOK (NNT) - According to Dr. Yong Poovorawan, head of the Center of Excellence in Clinical Virology at the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, said people who received two shots of Sinovac followed by a booster shot of AstraZeneca have seen their immunity increase 100 times, or 200 times if followed by a Pfizer booster shot.

Police: Protests Illegal Under Covid-19 Emergency Decree

BANGKOK (NNT) - Due to the recent gatherings of protesters outside the Supreme Court and Bangkok Remand Prison, where Arnon Nampa and other protest leaders are detained on charges including lese majeste and sedition, Metropolitan Police Bureau deputy commissioner and spokesman Police Major General Jirasan Kaewsangek said it was illegal to gather under the anti-Covid emergency decree.

Democrat party denies allegations of election fraud

The Democrat Party said they have not committed election fraud, instead they urged the Election Commission (EC) to investigate the allegations of irregularity during the by-election in Chumphon, and warned of a lawsuit if they found the accusation to be false.

Blow for the property industry as Government declares no more reduction in land and buildings tax

Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Thailand’s Finance Minister announced on January 17th that his ministry is ruling out the likely hood of any reduction in 2022 in the land and buildings tax.

Thailand’s entry fee will be imposed on every foreigner landing on Thai soil, including expats and migrant workers. However, it will be waived for foreign workers who have to cross the border daily. (Photo by Mladen ANTONOV / AFP)

 

While the Land of Smiles will be just as welcoming, from April it will also be charging every foreigner an entry fee of Bt300 if the government’s plan goes ahead. The government claims to have solid reasons for the move and expects tourism to start booming again once COVID-19 subsides.

Tigers on the BBQ: Thai hunters are unlikely to be innocent and should go to jail, Dutch activist tells ASEAN NOW

A well known Dutch animal rights activist and owner of a wildlife  sanctuary in Phetchaburi has told ASEAN NOW that the hunters responsible for the deaths of two tigers in Kanchanaburi are "not as innocent as they claim they are".

EEC To See Investment Drop in 2022-2026

BANGKOK (NNT) - According to Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office Kanit Sangsubhan, the second phase of EEC development (2022-2026) is estimated at around 398 billion baht, a huge drop from 900 billion baht in the first phase of 2018-2021.

Gulf Energy, Binance to explore setup of digital assets exchange in Thailand

Thailand’s Gulf Energy Development PCL, or GULF, has entered into an agreement with Binance, the world’s largest digital assets exchange in terms of trading volume, to explore the setting up of a cryptocurrency exchange and related businesses in Thailand.
