I only started playing it a week ago. Unfortunately it’s too easy and I am not good at other word games such as crossword puzzles.
Pic confirms I’ve solved it twice on my 3rd guess.
Can’t understand why such an easy game is so popular ????‍♂️, but like so many others, I still enjoy it!

I think it's popular because it's relatively easy! Mass appeal.

I think that's part of it, sure. Why not? Enjoy a little bit of success every day. What's not to like. At least it engages the brain a little bit. I seriously doubt a person that is always failing will continue with it.

ROGUE works for me.  For now.

I think it's hard to beat four vowels though OUJIA usually fails to get to show the exact positioning. Of course my second word will have an E in it.

It's time to talk about first words.

I've settled on

OUIJA

OUIJA is good but I prefer ADIEU,  difference being the (more popular?) D and E are working for me, instead of your (less popular?) J and O !

Agree. I just like a puzzle to enjoy with an early morning coffee, not completed before it’s even brewed ????

No! Don't corrupt perfection.

Too late now it's been sold to an American Newspaper. I read that some 'expert' has worked out the best starting word...CRATE. Rubbish, PAUSE, MOUSE, HOUSE, LOUSE or PENIS are much better !   LOL

This is about Wordle. Not about NPR.

yes.

I just tried wordle.

I'm not impressed.

the word I should find was "micro". which is... not a word. or not really.

but it refused virgo. which is... a word.

so the game broke rules twice on my first try, so it's a no go for me.

it also just refused hindu and hindi.

so it's rubbish

Yeah!

My first time getting it in three.

Nice ????

I was under severe pressure today. Have always solved it, but today went to the 6th (and final) guess ⚠️????

Dreading the day I can’t solve it. Will need to stay away from tall buildings that day…

Are you allowed to look on sites such as wordhippo?

https://www.wordhippo.com/what-is/starting-with/5-letter-words-wra.html

Ah yessss. Good idea!

Another option might be to login on another device and have another set of 6 attempts and repeat on every device in the house.
If not solved by the 6th (and last) attempt on your household’s final device, then yes!, wordhippo becomes your best friend ????

Who knew?

Why Wordle Had Two Different Answers in One Day

Fans of Wordle took to social media Tuesday to express frustration and confusion about the game's latest move.

The problem? Wordle, which was acquired by The New York Times in late January, was showing two different answers to Tuesday's word riddle, Wordle 241.

Maybe we can play "Wordle tag" on here?!

Create your own 5 letter word and other TF members have to guess it. If it works and if there's enough interest maybe the mods can pin it like they have with "Word Association"...

First to post the correct answer gets to choose the next word.

I'll go first. Good luck!

(If you're the first to solve it and wish to post the answer here, just remember to copy and paste the link to your word by clicking on the "get sharable link" button to keep the game going. No need to log in or create an account to play)

I don't find Wordle too easy at all.

I would never change to difficult mode.

The default mode is hard enough.

If you win every time, well I guess you're smarter than me.

Sometimes I lose.

I have been getting better but my solve rate is 72 percent.

Often it takes me to the sixth try to get it. PHEW indeed.

But I'm posting because I now have a 17 wins in a row streak.

I’m still enjoying it - but only been playing a month or so.

I think there’s a lot of luck involved sometimes - as opposed to being smart e.g. luck is definitely needed if the word of the day ends with *ABLE and you’ve only got 1 guess left ????

My luck finally ran out yesterday. Back to 1 win in a row here!

So are y'all still playing Wordle?

I am and I'm getting better at it.

Now I have a 25 day streak but its happening on the last try more often than I'd like.

There was a word with no vowels  That surprised me.

I have an idea on how they could monetize it.

Suppose you have a long streak but mess up one day. It can happen.

Wordle could say pay 5 dollah and you keep your streak!

Duolingo does exactly that.

Correction.

My solve rate is actually 78% not 72%.

How can you not get it right , you have 6 attempts using 5 words each go .

Thats 30 letters that you can use and there's only 26 letters in the alphabet

I'm up to 85 percent now. Sorry it took me a while to get very good at playing. Now you go and do a superior dance.

I play Wordle most days along with friends with work. We started a facebook group and share our efforts.

No it's not the NYT crossword puzzle, but thats half the attraction.

Fairly simple to play and that once a day thing gets you hooked.

Got my first 2/6 today.

I haven't done a lot of reading on theories and optimal tactics for playing Wordle but I saw something recently that resonated to me.

It suggested there are two basic ways of playing.

Playing to win in as few tries as possible.

OR

Playing to solve it but not worrying about taking 5 or 6.

Without realizing it before, I find that I've been playing a combination of those.

If my first two words give a lot of information on included letters and positioning, I definitely go for trying to solve it quickly.

That tactic means you will use those already known letters in any tries but the downside is that you aren't using many new letters to learn what isn't in the word.

If not much is known after two tries, then using a word with no hits is not a waste because you learn something from it, and that increases the chances that you'll solve it even it is takes till 6.

I always use the same starter word, which today turned up zilch letters. Little worrying, but it eliminated 5 letters, and then i just went on to a random word which got rid of another three and then the word choices came down to 2.
