Is this an overstay - September 2020 during amensty

Featured Replies

Left Thailand from BKK airport on the evening of 27th September 2020, from what I recall, dead airport, no fine and nothing negative was said to me, but was redirected to another officer and he added this stamp. I would like to know if this is technically an overstay - Things to note 1) I paid no fine, but that's a common thing with 1 day at bkk I'm told 2) the automatic amnesty was extended somepoint during the day of the 27th if I remember correctly or possibly the day later but I don't think the word had propagated until I had passed immigration.

Thanks in advance

I think technically midnight 26th, however the permission was automatically extended but it was announced the same day I left if I remember correctly, so I dont know if this is some 1 day no-fine overstay or some stamp for covid amensty -  guess it depends on if the amensty extension was official before I passed immigration and secondly the officer knew about the automatic late announced extension or not and

IF they are the only stamps you have - it looks like a 6 month over-stay.

I think it's either a one day overstay the auto amensty was technically until 26th until extended, or something related to covid amensty. No fine was paid.

Did you extend your visa exempt stay in March? The "amnesty" didn't kick in until April, so what did you do when your permission expired on March 20?

None of the stamps in the picture is an overstay stamp.

Ah there is a "extension of stay permitted upto 19 apr 2020" on next page I think that was the last time I visited immigration and paid 1900. Thanks for clearing up the above

I see what Richard was meaning now, missed that stamp

Then you are fine. The original "amnesty" was announced on April 7th, so your stay was fully covered without any overstay.
