Are they zebra crossings or pelican crossings?

Either way, they're also known as Suicide lanes in Thailand.

Plenty of red and white zebras after being attacked by a lion.

The ZEBRA crossing was first introduced in the UK in 1951 then at a later date the stupid Americans adopted the idea but used the wrong colour paint and the Thailand followed suit ????????

If Thailand copies anything stupid from the West it is usually from the US.

in my working life "US" was normally used to mean unserviceable.

but how about for a poor person with no money?  What justice will they get?

If you get fined for no seatbelt and it’s 500 baht at the station plus loosing a days work or 300 which would the poor person want. Think yourself lucky you have an option other than not breaking the law.

They might be where you are from but the article is correct. If you took your analogy then surely a crosswalk would be covered with X signs or crosses.

I would think you should be more worried about use of the word Durex.

You could get some funny looks if you asked for some and the shop owners reply is 'Certainly sir, What size?'

Where the answers could include

- A packet of 6 French Ticklers

- 20 Meters long of extra sticky

- 1 gallon

Mostly world wide it is a condom brand,

in Australia a Sticky tape

and in the USA antifreeze.

To prove it was not a Crosswalk it was using

It is amusing to note the adherence to the zebra rule - if only for a few days, with motorbikes queued up both ahead of and behind the crosswalk.

However, it does seem like more motorbikes are taking to the footpaths.

You can pay them whatever you like, it will not stop the police taking cash if they can get away with it. You can never have too much cash.

You call it a "bribe", but this is not always the case as I've been asked for cash money on numerous occasions before making any offer to pay on the spot. They even had a fine price list at one stop. To pay you go into the little police booth to part with your cash. One place even had a rubber stamp for your wrist (like a nightclub entry stamp) as a "leave me alone" pass for the rest of the night LOL. There are some quite elaborate police cash collecting enterprises.
