Thailand reports 9,909 new COVID-19 cases, 22 deaths, 7,827 recoveries

Thailand on Friday (February 4) reported 9,909 new COVID-19 cases, 7,827 recoveries and 22 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. 

 

▶︎ Infections outside prisons: 9,721. Prisons: 188

▶︎ Recoveries: 7,827

 

Friday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 2,475,632 with 22,250 deaths.

 

The news comes as Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn is planning to discuss the possibility of a travel bubble initially with China and other ASEAN countries following the resumption of the “Test&Go” scheme this month.

 

Phiphat revealed to the press yesterday, February 2nd, that he would seek a discussion with China’s Culture and Tourism Ministry regarding the travel bubble agreement, or exchanging tourists without quarantine, during his visit to the Winter Olympics Games in Beijing between February 3rd and the 6th.

x5 or x10 and it's probably around the mark. It's Omicron. Can't stop it. Quite some time ago I and some others said let it run. Denmark has now taken this approach. Now being treated as the common cold.

Every other country I can think of with a similar population, around 60 or 70 million, say, has been recording 100,000 and often many more new cases in recent weeks. Yet somehow, all that prik kee nu in their diet seems to prevent the Thais from getting Omicron. Or maybe it's their force-fed diet of excess BS from the politicians, lol?

Thailand has more restrictions to prevent infection. 

 

But in order to maintain current low levels, it has to keep these rules in place, which is increasingly looking foolish considering the milder nature of the Omicron variant and its ability to actually confer much needed natural immunity.  The other possibility is that these figures are not at all to be trusted.

My homeland in Europe right now if compared to Thai population should have a daily count about 800.000 confirmed cases. .

I guess that now the " High Season " has nearly finished, there is no real need to massage the Infection Numbers so much.

Creeping up from the 55 yesterday.

 

Health officials on Friday (Feb 4) reported 83 new COVID-19 cases, of which 25 cases were found in Hua Hin.

Elsewhere in the province, 13 cases were found in Pranburi, 10 cases in Sam Roi Yot, 5 cases in Kuiburi, 2 cases in Thap Sakae, 19 cases in Bang Saphan, 2 cases in Bang Saphan Noi, and 10 cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.

In addition, 1 case was found from someone who had travelled from abroad.

No new deaths were reported today.
