Locals take matters into their own hands to detain "paranoid drug guy" - police arrive after ONE HOUR

A foundation rescue worker and locals who made a citizens' arrest of a drugs' suspect last night had to wait an hour for the police to arrive.

In the end the provincial police chief of Samut Prakan Pol Col Sarawut Saengrungreuang put in an appearance.

Foundation rescue man Weerayuth Siamkham, 30, had been on duty outside a PTT gas station on Sri Nakharin Road in Muang district, reported 77kkaoded.

He was approached by some shop staff who reported a man acting in a parnoid manner wandering about the gas station.

The man had attempted to put his hands down three ATMs in an apparent effort to get at some money.

When confronted after more strange behaviour the man ran off over a pedestrian bridge with citizens in hot pursuit.

The police were still nowhere to be seen even though it was only 10.30 pm.

Then Kengpong - as he was soon found to be called - entered a car belonging to a local and sat in the driver's seat fiddling with the ignition.

He was dragged out of the car and forced to the tarmac as a man demanded why he had entered someone else's car.

When police eventually made it to the scene they discovered that Kenpong had keys to a Mitsubishi.

A Pajero was found using the remote indicator and inside were anti-depressants and a prescription and a small bag of what looked like marijuana in a seat pocket.

The suspect was taken into custody screaming that he was depressed and had got into the wrong car by mistake.

Wow only one hour. That was quick for the RTP.

^^ They had to stop at all the newly painted zebra crossings.

Good thing he didn't find 'his' car.  Accident waiting to happen if he managed to drive off in his condition.
