Popular Post webfact
“The brave call by a Thai Government Minister for Thailand to overturn its harsh ban on the sale of vape products has received applause and accolades from around the world,” says Nancy Loucas, Executive Coordinator of the Coalition of Asia Pacific Tobacco Harm Reduction Advocates (CAPHRA). Her comments follow Thailand’s Digital Economy and Society Minister, Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, telling local media that vaping is safer for people trying to quit smoking. What’s more, he is now looking at ways vaping could be legalised in order to offer a less harmful alternative to smoking regular cigarettes. “Support for the Minister has gone global! This should be a massive wake-up call for Thailand’s Government. He’s on the side of science and his calls have exposed the fact that Thailand has fallen well behind internationally when it comes to adopting effective Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR) policies,” says Ms Loucas. Geoffggi
One of my main problems with vaping is sitting next to someone who is vaping, the clouds of smoke that these devices emit is really anti-social, I would rather sit next to a regular cigarette smoker therefore in my opinion there should be strict measures in place on where people can vape and not cause discomfort to other people. 1 10 2

You're right there, it reminds me one night sitting outside a pub in Phuket Town and 3 of them on the next table vaping away clouds of smoke, we had to move and I smoke but my wife doesn't 1 4

Well I thought it was water vapour and not smoke.... and I for one would not prefer a cigarette smoker next to me....but both are something I wish to avoid..... I would hope either would blow away from other people or take it outside. Perhaps us anti guys have to wear masks!

Popular Post Davedub
Nicotine addicts cannot be forced to quit. Only people who make the decision for themselves, when they are ready, sucessfully do so. Overwhelmingly, the evidence points to vaping being a far less risky way to deliver nicotine. Consequently, many people make an informed decision to vape until they are ready to quit. Many of these people are potential tourists who will choose another holiday destination instead of being 'forced' to go back to cigarettes should they come to Thailand. I personally know a number of people who have made this choice. I wonder if the Thai government is aware of the detrimental effect the policy on vaping here has on tourist arrival numbers? I strongly suspect it is costing the country far more than people realise. 10

Vaping still has many harmful chemicals. Depends on the manufacturing process. It's another good reason to legalize it. Just like other illegal drugs, manufacturers and distributors add nasty stuff in there to reduce costs and increase profit. By legalizing and regulating it, you can ensure such chemicals are kept to an absolute minimum. You can also tax it to pay for healthcare that may (but mostly won't) be required by those who consume it. 3

mtls2005
Vaping is pretty popular with the younger thai crowd. Supplies are widely available. Authorities never enforce "laws" for this segment. It seems like the authorities mostly hassle Shisha places. Next up: Playing cards legal? Some flavors are seriously annoying. Vanilla flavor is one of the discord i hate most. That sweet smells stays forever and i can smell it a mile away. Legalize vaping for sure....... But been all flavors. My girlfriend vapes and I'm glad that she changed from regular cigarettes many years ago. She just use the liquid with nicotine and no flavors added, so there is no smell at all. The only thing that annoys me are her vaping equipment which makes small clicks each time she inhales. Same with all smoking . Smokers stand and smoke directly outside where there is no smoking allowed . Hospitals a good example example .

Not much fresh air in Thailand. Carcinogenic pollutants + cig smoke = early grave/burn. Doctors estimate 32,000 premature deaths per year from respiratory diseases.

Enoon
I like watching the "vapistes" chugging along and emitting clouds of steam that seem so much larger than it's possible for their bodies to contain. It reminds me of my childhood when I could see, from my house, the steam clouds rising from the locomotives passing through the shallow valley in which my village sat. I can remember being taken to watch the Flying Scotsman pass beneath one of the bridges, up to the parapet of which I was held, on it's final scheduled run before retiring from regular service.
