COVID infection risk raised back to ‘Level 4’ in Thailand

The Thai Ministry of Public Health has once again upgraded the risk of COVID-19 infection to Level 4, the second highest level, across the country, as 90% of new infections are now by the Omicron variant.

 

The ministry previously raised the alert to Level 4 on January 6, before dropping it to Level 3 on January 20.

 

Deputy Public Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Thongchai Keeratihattayakorn said today (Monday) that it is anticipated that the infection rate will remain high for the next 1-2 weeks, as he urged the public to avoid crowded places, refrain from social gatherings, to work from home and to delay interprovincial travel.

Are they having a laugh? There's less than 20k cases per day if you believe the numbers ????

 

I suspect the truth is about to come out.

They will know the prevelance by surveillance testing if they've bothered to do it.

 

It will be interesting if they reintroduce lockdown measures again.

The UK PM has just raised our covid level to the ground.

No more government self isolation mandates and  no more free testing,

It's official, it's time to move on and live with this virus.

Yet there are various posters who think Thailand are doing a great job with covid.

It's a hokey cokey of levels up and down, 1 test then 2 tests, then live with the virus, then local governors  trying to out do themselves with closing all the local schools.

Headless chickens would be too kind.

If they introduce any lockdown measures again then the truth is out - it will mean it's out of control and they can't handle it. Just watch and see.

 

They don't have to say anything, it's what they do that matters.

Thailand will eventually find their way through the maze and drop all their restrictions like many of the European countries.

I just can't see them doing it for the next month or two, if they are starting to see their numbers increase.

They are not going to act like some EU countries did and lift all restrictions while the daily numbers are increasing.

They won't do anything that affects a potential 'travel bubble' with China.

It sounds crazy but I believe this is the driving force that motivates everything they do. It's all about getting a special arrangement with China and I predict this will end very badly for them.

Thailand is hiding more than it ever did covid is a perfect smoke screen

The stagnating economy, education, crime, corruption and some other stuff going the wrong way, soon going to be out done by its neighbours.

They have closed down one of the biggest airports in the world that is the gateway of investment

Soon going to be out done by its neighbours?which neighbours would that be? Thailand was the first of the south east Asian countries to allow tourists back In.

Anutin explain why - you made a statement a few days ago stating Thailand was No1 in the world dealing with covid and yet other countries are dumping restrictions and Thailand is increasing them - that in my opinion is an abject failure - the rest of the world is moving on - why is Thailand going backwards ???????

It has become apparent they need Covid, in order to maintain control and keep the oppression in place. They know their days are nundered, after failing the paople to the extent they have. 

 

I know countless people who have gotten Omi. They all had mild cold like symptoms, it disappeared quickly, and they had no long term side effects.

What travel bubble with China? China currently has a zero covid policy…nobody there is going anywhere. Pity they did not have that policy in place at the very start but we all know why that was. Cheers China!

Rhetorical question surely? Does Thailand even have a first gear? Closer to neutral and 5 reverse gears.

Your right, there is no cure for Omicron except a very good immune system so we have to live with it, unless China knows something we don't know.

I arrived on Test and Go on Friday. My plan was to avoid crowds until the day 5 test. But yesterday, in order to comply with government regulations, I stood in a massive crowd for 3 hours at Immigration to provide the government with the same piece of information (where I'm staying) as I've provided at least 3 times already in preparation for an upon arrival. 

 

If I test positive on day 5 at least I'll know where I was infected.

They haven't given up on this idea - it's their only hope.

 

Personally I hope it fails completely and China remains locked down for another 5 to 10 years. That would put a few people in their place.

The rest of the world is learning to live with Covid and moving onwards.  Thailand wants to be seen as doing the right thing yet their idea of the right thing is killing the economy even further.  However the Teflon Baht is clawing its way back upwards and the exchange rates are dropping again...can anyone say market manipulation....

Who cares? Further ridiculous covidiocy scare mongering and last gasp/last grasp at "Covid Control". 90+% of Thailand has forgotten about it and/or accepted it and moved way past it. Covidiocy fatigue and exhaustion have taken it's toll. It's OVER

Infections are not the issue. When Onicron was first identified it was said that it is 70 times more transmissible. So what do they expect? The data confirms that it is no longer the threat is was, or thought it could be. We have vaccines to protect the weak and vulnerable. So, as much as I don’t like having a bucket of water thrown at me whilst driving my bike, they should get real and open up fully for Songkran. It is a real opportunity to stop the damage being caused by restrictions and the spread of ‘fear’ Wake up and open up Thailand.

This virus is now only a risk to people who are already severely ill - those who are unvaccinated 

 

and perhaps the most important and might be critical to Thailand 

 

Those that have been vaccinated with a vaccine that just doesn't work welll 

 

I said months ago as minds were focussed on vaccines etc - that those in Thailand that got the Chinese vaccines might at some point have to be considered as unvaccinated - maybe there is hidden data that is not being disclosed to the public that indicates that those currently having problems with covid are either unvaccinated or have been vaccinated with sinovac (the latter which must account for a huge number of doses administered in Thailand) and I am not talking about booster single doses, of course the Thai government would never admit to this as it would be seen as yet another failure

I might not have agreed with your comments 8 months ago but I certainly do now - it is time to move on 

 

This pathetic administration are running out of reasons to justify restrictions as the whole world moves on from this pandemic - Thailand needs to get with the program and fast
