BANGKOK (NNT) - The Digital Council of Thailand (DCT) has recently attended an online APEC meeting of the Digital Economy Steering Group (DESG). The virtual conference aimed to set the digital development direction of the bloc under the APEC Internet and Digital Economy Roadmap (AIDER).

DCT President Suphachai Chearavanont proposed that APEC provide new generations with better access to technology and promote active learning methods.

In order to drive APEC’s digital economy, the DCT also recommended the following:

1. Creating a set of standards and an index to gauge digital development

2. Encouraging cooperation among the government, the private sector and the public

3. Developing human resources for digital development or “Digital Workforce”

4. Encouraging “Digital Transformation” in the business and industrial sectors

5. And developing an ecosystem catering to innovation, such as “innovation clusters” or “centers of excellence” on digital technology.

The DCT President also said APEC members should also consider investing in startups and instilling new generations with an entrepreneurship mindset.

Just what will happen to the Assistant Manager to the Manager, and their Secretaries, and supporting underlings, when a single item of Software is introduced to the workings of the Factory.

All the people counting what an underling has taken from the Stores on a chitty issued and signed by at least 3 people, and the Security Guards watching them, will all be unemployed.

The Wages Lady and the 3 people who double check and triple check that an Employee is not over paid by a single Baht - unemployed.

All the workers to be replaced by Robots, CNC, AI, and Automation Etc - all out of work

There will be just a few people left to run entire operations from start to finish, and the others will be discarded.

All those discarded people need some way of earning Money for their Families Etc, and there is insufficient opportunity for most of them to be up-skilled.

Such scenarios lead to Civil Unrest very quickly.

The Technology is already out there, and has been for a long time, and it only takes a couple of people now to run and entire Factory
