Russians withdraw, Snake Island liberated! They couldn’t take the heat anymore from the shelling.

Russians excuse. They’ve withdrawn as a goodwill gesture ????

All the reports on the BBC live updates

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-europe-61987663

As the NY Times pointed out, it was only a week ago that Russia boasted about repelling a Ukrainian attack on the island. Apparently, the new weapons are beginning to make a difference according to the NY Times. ( I linked to the article in another thread)

Joe Biden is currently in Spain for the NATO summit.  Will he go to Kyiv and meet Zelenskky? Meanwhile President Joko Widodo met with Zelenskky.  Bravo Mr. President. Thai is President Widodo and not the guy who lives in the White House.

For your added benefit and for those who say the mall was closed:

"For anyone claiming that there were not many vehicles on the Amstor parking lot in Kremenchuk... well, this video shows the situation minutes after the impact" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUQ96G2APAI

Thanks, I hadn't seen that video before.

The last comment by "Max Long" is interesting. He repeats what Reuters news agency reported:

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-says-hit-weapons-depot-kremenchuk-caused-fire-shopping-center-2022-06-28/

 - which was that the target was a weapons depot next to the mall, according to the Russian defence ministry. They say the store  contained arms received from the United States and Europe, and they exploded after the missile hit, causing the mall to catch fire.

Bernie Ecclestone says he would take a bullet for Putin. It just goes to show that living to be 91 and becoming a billionaire don’t necessarily mean you have to be very smart.

Unbelievable ignorance:

When it was pointed out that Russia's invasion of Ukraine had claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people, Mr Ecclestone simply replied: "It wasn't intentional".

'We should pull out of NATO': Marjorie Taylor Greene says it's time to let Putin win

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Thursday threw her support toward letting Russian President Vladimir Putin win by pulling the United States out of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Writing on Twitter, Greene slammed the Biden administration for continuing to supply Ukraine with the weapons it says it needs to repel the Russian military invasion that began back in February. "The American people do not want war with Russia, but NATO and our own foolish leaders are dragging us into one," Greene wrote.

What’s changed about Greene since her days as a rabble-rousing promoter of conspiracy theories and misinformation is simply that she now does the same thing with the trappings of officialdom. Her comments about the war in Ukraine have the slightly elevated weight of coming from a member of Congress, albeit it one with less actual political power than perhaps any other official on Capitol Hill

I thought Russia left to allow a safe corridor for boat to collect grain.

And you believe that why? Have the Russians announced that they are removing their mines from the Black Sea? Or do you find their denials that they have laid any believable?

If only the Russians had some sort of boat they could use to threaten the island with.

you’re confused, Kiev was their first goodwill gesture, the boat was the second, snake Island the third, many more to come, a gift that keeps on giving….????

128 days of being pounded by shells, drones and missiles had nothing to do with it then. Snake Island gave the Russians control of the water and impact the sky over southern Ukraine, was an essential point for Russias ability for a tactical naval landing and conduct a landing operation in Transnistra.

Your comrades conveniently forgot to tell you that.

Reminds me of the importance of Malta, back then, the Axis were never able to take it, oh, or the UK....... ????

Snake Island served its purpose. It was a distraction for the Ukrainians and the West.

The Russians took Snake Island easily at the start, but it has no strategic value for them - it's a rock. And while the Ukrainians and the West were distracted by it, the Russians were taking Severodonetsk and Lysychansk in the Donbas region.

So they left a rock with population zero, and now control two cities - Severodonetsk and Lysychansk - in the industrial heartland, population 300,000.

I thought Russia left to allow a safe corridor for boat to collect grain.

Yes, that is what the Russians said, but I don't buy it. It's also implying that they were blockading the port of Odessa, stopping the grain exports. So that was a dumb statement. They should've just said that the rock had served its purpose and they are moving on.

I guess so because isn't Odessa port access blocked by Ukrainian sea mines anyway.
