Crimea bridge partly reopens after huge explosion - Russia

Light traffic has resumed on Russia's only bridge to Crimea, hours after a huge blast brought down sections of the roadway.

The blast on Europe's longest bridge - a symbol of Russia's annexation of the peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 - killed three people, investigators say.

The victims were in a nearby car when a lorry blew up, Russian officials claim.

question is, seeing what happen and imagining what could happen again soon or very soon, how safe do the ORCS feel about using it 555

Well, it's really 2 bridges. At least 2 separate roads. The one that got hit is the one that has a road and train tracks. The trains are a very important means of transporting materiel destined for Kherson.

It looks like the truck exploded on one carriageway at the precise moment a tanker train was on the rail line above it causing the huge fire on the rail line

EDIT

OR as is now being suggested the explosion came from below and was detonated by line of site when a tanker train was at that point

The civilian killing goes on.

Official: Strikes on Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia kill 17

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia overnight struck apartment buildings and killed at least 17 people, a top official in the Ukrainian city said Sunday.

City council Secretary Anatoliy Kurtev said the city was struck by rockets overnight, and that at least five private houses were destroyed and around 40 were damaged. The Ukrainian military also confirmed the attack, saying that there were dozens of casualties.

Putin's televised announcement on Sunday Evening moans it was an act of Terrorism Err what do you call firing missiles into Residential non Military Targets Vlad?. Reports are coming in this morning that missiles have hit Kiev. If so where were they fired from? I suspect inside Belarus allowing them to use their border to launch strikes.

how can it be an act of terrorism when the bridge it's built illegally on another country's land, the act of originally building it on an other country's illegally annexed territory was an act of terrorism, defending one's own land has never been an act of terrorism

You would have thought they would have had a Patriot type of missile defense ready by now

Sepious there has not been any attacks on kiev for Months so likely the crews that man the defense systems around the city were not on duty as they don't man them 24/7 only when a strike is a possibility. Plus they were fired close so there would be little time to intercept them. Just another indiscriminate attack on Civilians from Putin's thugs.

Psychopaths, narcissists and madmen only see the evil in others, never in themselves. It’s always someone else’s fault, they are never to blame for anything.

the new commander for Russian forces in Ukraine General Sergey Surovikin taking charge after the Crimea Bridge attack.

I read that this guy is an extremely brutal and also very corrupt general, even by Russian standards, which says a lot. So Ukraine knows what it’s up against.

Lukashenko says Belarus and Russia to deploy joint military group

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said Belarus and Russia will deploy a joint military task force in response to what he called an aggravation of tension on the country’s western borders, according to the state-run Belta news agency.

Lukashenko said on Monday the two countries had started pulling forces together two days ago, apparently after the explosion on a bridge linking Russia to the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014.

This sounds like bad news ,along with the bombing that is killing civilians ,again.

I just hope that a few countries will get the same idea and pull together to fight against Russia.

I really don't understand that talk of "escalation".

Nothing Ukraine can do with its own weapons (not western ones) can be seen as escalation.

Ukraine is defending in Ruzzia's full-out war. Short of using WMD, everything Ukraine does to strike Ruzzian military targets is fair game.

That's from your perspective, you have to look at it from Putin's perspective.

No need to wait for other people to do anything. Far as I know anyone can join Ukraine armed forces. Certainly many have done so already.

Don't just talk about others doing something- just do it yourself.

Agreed, but they have real patriot systems. Turn up the volume to hear the missiles flying overhead.  Would love to know what "suka bartay" means.

If you want to understand whether he sees it as an escalation, yes, you have to.
