I don’t recall reading anywhere that Putin said the SMO was supposed to last only 3 days. I believe this is the usual western propaganda. I could be wrong and will admit as much if you can show me a credible link to Putin saying this. Else, you are just making this up, something your buddies are fond of accusing others of doing. I do believe that this conflict has lasted longer than Putin wanted. He calculated correctly that that clown Zelensky would quickly go to the negotiating table which he did. They may have been running low in recent weeks but they've already started receiving the promised new arms shipments from the US (and others). Quote Last Sunday, as Russia put pressure on Ukrainian forces across a 600-mile front line, Ukraine received a shipment of anti-armor rockets, missiles and badly needed 155-millimeter artillery shells. It was the first installment from the $61 billion in military aid that President Biden approved just four days earlier. Over the last week, a flurry of planes, trains and trucks have arrived at NATO depots in Europe carrying ammunition and smaller weapon systems to be shipped across Ukraine’s borders. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/03/us/politics/ukraine-weapons-us.html 1 3

thaibeachlovers
20 hours ago, Gweiloman said: One thing the west wins in is the great sounding names attached to their weapons; Leopard, Challenger, Abrams etc Thanks for posting that. Very interesting. If true it must be exercising western tank makers, as that is a pretty shoddy performance considering how they were going to win the war. We don't hear much about that any more and have not heard about how the orcs are losing either. Could it all be falling apart? Oh no, the orcs might win, the sky is falling. It was a bit amusing that Zelensky wants the west to front up with hundreds of modern tanks, considering the west doesn't actually have many and they might just possibly need them themselves. One of the bases I worked on had a working Centurion tank, but they rarely drove it because it's too thirsty. Takes a lot of petrol to move something that heavy. Another takeaway from vdo is that the Leopard is a better tank than the Challenger. Considering the Brits invented the things, one might expect them to do better, but I've seen a few British WW2 tanks and was not impressed. However, can anything match the Sherman for it's ability to catch fire ( the Germans apparently called it a Tommy cooker ), and who thought it a good idea to use petrol in a tank? Anyway, tanks are probably going the way of the battleship. One guy with a shoulder mounted weapon can immobilise any tank simply by damaging the suspension or drive wheel. Millions of $ worth of tank immobilised by a guy with an RPG. 1

Personal question : what is your personal experience with living under Russian rule ? Not really. Ukraine could have decided to remain neutral and not join NATO. 2/3 rds of Ukrainians during Yanukovych’s time in office was against joining NATO. This went against US’s desires thus the overthrow of his government, the Maidan uprising. If Zelensky had gone ahead with the deal brokered in Antalya, hundreds of thousands of people would still be alive, the 4 Eastern oblasts would still be part of Ukraine, Europa would still be enjoying cheap, reliable energy from Russia and Russia would be weaker than it is today. My personal opinion of course. I have no personal experience of living under Russian rule so I can’t really give you a satisfactory answer. All the times I’ve been there, primarily Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novgorod, the impression I have is that it’s a typical old European country. The architecture, the cuisine, all similar to other parts of Europe. People are prosperous, happy and very much more welcoming than western Europeans. Supermarkets are well stocked, restaurants super high class and the cities felt much safer than London, Paris or Rome. I hope I have answered your question sufficiently. Don’t hesitate to ask more questions or request for more clarification. I will do my best to respond appropriately. 3 3
