This  NY Times article has a link to this video of streetfighting in Kherson.

Here's a direct link to the video in Telegram.

There's nothing authoritative on who's doing the fighting, The Russians say their troops were attacking a nest of Ukrainian guerilla fighters. The Ukrainians say its 2 factions of Russian soldiers fighting over loot before they withdraw.

both stories are bad for the Russians.

I read earlier that there was partisan activity in Kherson.

One of Russia's most popular singers, Alla Pugacheva, has called on the Russian authorities to declare her a "foreign agent", in solidarity with her strongly anti-war husband Maxim Galkin. She has been a big star for decades.

She said the Kremlin's "illusory aims" in Ukraine "make our country a pariah and the lives of our citizens extremely difficult".

How's that encirclement going?

They had a 2 week plan to encircle Kyiv. But, they failed to execute. They got about 70% encirclement before they ran out of steam. Apparently, their logistical support was weaker than they expected, due to lack of air superiority.

But, I will stand by my statement that the Russians had a 2 week plan to encircle Kyiv.

Biden warns Putin not to use tactical nuclear weapons

US President Joe Biden has warned Russia not to use chemical or tactical nuclear weapons in the war in Ukraine.

Speaking during an interview with CBS News, Mr Biden said such action would "change the face of war unlike anything since World War Two".

He would not say what response the US would make to the use of such weapons.

Russian President Vladimir Putin put the country's nuclear forces on "special" alert following its invasion of Ukraine in February.

and on Al Jazeera yesterday after showing that part of the interview with Biden, they included an expert that pointed out that according to US intelligence there is nothing to indicate that Russia is intending to use such, and that the only time Biden refers to such is when asked by "journalists". He went on to say that such might be used if NATO moved into Ukraine, or long range missiles were used to attack Russia directly. He also said that the US was not providing such missiles.

How about the part where you concluded by  claiming that "The Russians are experts on encirclement of Kyiv."?

Is it possible to be both an expert at something and a bungler at it as well?

That's what the Russians do: they encircle, rather than engage in  frontal assaults on large cities. They have executed this tactic repeatedly in Ukraine.

Their problem is that they are up against an adversary who understands them.

The crazies are at it again. “Several state lawmakers belonging to Germany’s AfD party intend to visit Donbass in the coming days, one of them confirmed on Twitter on Monday, but called “fake news” the insinuations by a US-based think tank and Ukraine’s former ambassador to Berlin that they are agents of Russian propaganda.”

To put things in perspective: the official AfD party line is that they are against sanctions imposed by the West on Russia, and many AfD politicians and party members have openly expressed their admiration for Putin.

There's going to be an urgent referendum in the occupied areas. A pro Russia vote is guaranteed, which would result in any attack on that area be seen as an attack on Russia.

This might be really bad for Ukraine and the world.

Some more on this and why it could, potentially, be bad news for Ukraine and the world in general:

Yes they can use that excuse and threat that an attack on the occupied territories is an attack on Russia with the implications that can mean but also its another form of hybrid mobilization of their dwindling manpower.

We know already that since September 19th, citizens of Crimea who are eligible for enlistment are forbidden from leaving the peninsula without formal permission from regional authorities.

So no doubt this will also happen in these new areas.

Just goes to show what's OK on Russian TV .....????

https://uk.yahoo.com/news/russian-tv-bombed-uk-queen-funeral-114704857.html

From the article:

"In a video flagged by Russian Media Monitor Julia Davis, Skabeyeva said with a smirk: "We should have done it today, all the best people are there for the funeral."

Gurulyov had told state channel Russia-1: "Why would we bomb Ukraine or Germany, when there is Britain, the root of evil?"

Maybe this is an improvement? In the past, prominent Russians would have been blaming the Jews.

Ukraine war latest: Putin issues nuclear threat and orders 'partial mobilisation' in Ukraine as he calls up military reservists

https://news.sky.com/story/ukraine-war-latest-news-putins-forces-clearly-in-panic-russia-12541713

This nuclear threat is very worrisome. In 2020 Putin endorsed a nuclear deterrent policy that allow him to use nuclear if the country existence is threatened. The rush for the sham referendums will permit him to follow through with the policy. No doubt the sham referendums will be corruptly carried out with majority of the people wanting to be part of Russia. They faked that in Crimea and will do the same in Ukraine.
