vandeventer
I think the government should welcome us more with no hassles to work as volunteers in many areas of Thailand like [ teaching English] or many of the skills that we the retired men and woman have to make this country better.

It was then renewed after 2 years in UK to residency via a postal application [no immigration visits required] She got her social security number soon after arriving and could work at whatever she wanted, no change of visa, no work permit no BS. But then UK want people to assimilate, work pay taxes and integrate. Thailand just wants money, not people. 3

You think a Thai person can go on holiday to UK or American and then get a job there or start their own business? Yes, Thais can go to the UK or USA and get a work permit for an unskilled job (just look at the residential homes for the elderly in the UK, without Thais and other foreign nationals they'd have no staff.) The issue here is that only skilled labourers are allowed to work here whilst the unskilled Thais can go to our countries and get WP's and jobs. Doctor Tom
46 minutes ago, josephbloggs said: Of course they are. If a foreigner wants to work in the UK they need a work permit and to get a work permit they have to be skilled and, almost exactly like here: To qualify for a Skilled Worker visa, you must: - work for a UK employer that’s been approved by the Home Office - have a ‘certificate of sponsorship’ from your employer with information about the role you’ve been offered in the UK - do a job that’s on the list of eligible occupations -be paid a minimum salary - how much depends on the type of work you do And, guess what, hair dresser is not one of the eligible occupations in the UK either. Seriously what kind of reality do you live in when you think we are discriminated against for needing to be highly skilled in a specialist industry to be granted a work permit? It is normal.https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa Well reported, but of course, it will not change the minds (such as they have) of the twisted anti Thai mob on here, who see racial prejudice at every turn. Thais protect Thais, which is as it should be.

hioctane
People just seem oblivious to how the employment system works all over the world. It is pretty much the same all over. In the US, to work you need a H1B1 visa which is only given to those with sponsorships and in skilled positions. The other way is to become a permanent resident and then you can work anywhere you want. Sure there are many illegals working. However, if you get caught, you get deported. If you are working without a working permit, you get deported.
