The Thai Ministry of Public Health launched out-patient medical services today (Tuesday) for people infected with COVID-19 who exhibit no or only mild symptoms, to ensure that all Thais have free access to medical care if they test positive for the virus.

Director-general of the Medical Services Department Dr. Somsak Akksilp said that since about 90% of people infected by the Omicron variant are asymptomatic or develop only mild symptoms, they are entitled to free medical services provided by the state, but they don’t need to be admitted to hospitals, to keep beds available for those who are severely ill.

The out-patient medical services, such as the Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) clinics and the Patient Under Investigation (PUI) facilities at all hospitals, represent an alternative for COVID-19 patients with no or minimal symptoms. They will be given a COVID-19 test and medication, so they can look after themselves at home.

Well I guess if you have private health cover and insist on hospitalisation for no reason they will probably let you stay.

The government then should notify the Mayor and government hospital in Pattaya.

From personal experience last two month as as late as a week ago from my observations anyone going to the government hospital reporting a positive with no or little systoms Antigen aren't told go home quarantine treated but to pack a bag and come back the next day to be quarantine for 10 days at one of the Mayors 10. Plus authorized hotels.

The process when you report positive test is to fill out form,  submit to a clerk you see no Doctor, nurse, and no test PCR to conform as they are being reported in the Thai news they just take your work for it.

Next day you report I saw hundreds with their bags packed go to an unfinished wing of the hospital as if they were going on vacation shuttle to area to area given just a chest X-ray once process they team you up with another person to be your roommate you are given instructions and a test kit, QR code and medication to take for 9 days,  mini buses pulls up take you to your hotel in town. During your stay never once talk to a Doctor or nurse report your antigen test on fourth day fifth a truck pulls up at you hotel parking area you take another X-ray.

This is nothing but a scam Mayor and hospital must be making a mint from the kick backs charging the government.

So, if you have private health cover you can choose to isolate at hospital and protect your family members still at home rather than being sent home to infect them? Potentialy, if i had that level of coverage.....

Should not the private health cover determined by the insurance companies instead of government?
