Heng
Yeah, most of the TikToks I've seen seem to focus on the 'benefits.' There are discussions of whether joining the Russian or Ukrainian side would be a 'better' deal (with everyone seem to be overlooking the fact that apart from the initial optics, they'd likely just be cannon fodder).
billd766
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-60594223 'Putin has to be stopped' - the Britons preparing to fight in Ukraine. Since Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on foreign fighters to travel to Ukraine and join in the defence of the country, hundreds of Britons have come forward saying they want to volunteer. "I've been losing sleep over it," says 32-year-old Joseph, whom we are only identifying with his first name at his request after he said he planned to make the journey to help in any way he can. "I feel like we're not doing enough." Although he says he has recently applied to join the British army, he does not have any military experience - and has no links to Ukraine other than a friend he attended college with.

Bkk Brian
Hit Reuters now also In a single day this week, a Thai-language online group gathered more than 2,000 names of people interested in volunteering for Ukraine, the group's organiser told Reuters. Chanaphong, 28, said he felt upset for the Ukrainian people, particularly after reports of Russian attacks on civilians. "I have been involved in demanding democracy in my country ... and opposing tyranny," Chanaphong told Reuters in an interview. "They (Ukrainians) are also fighting for democracy and is now invaded by a superpower and a tyrant, so I asked myself what I can do for them," he said. https://www.reuters.com/world/thai-democracy-activists-sign-up-fight-tyranny-ukraine-2022-03-03/

In a scene more bizarre than any of this conspiracy theories, Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to be his 22-year-old daughter’s godfather." Never killed anyone and never will on orders from someone I don't know. Guess I am a lousy soldier. Proud on that actually. ???? Reading your dribble is getting tiring. There is no and can be no, justification for one nation attacking another and killing its people without any provocation. What possible reasoning are you using? That Russia liberated your country 87 years ago? Get real. That Ukraine's military have been engaged in a battle with 2 breakaway republics? Is that it? Those areas were and are, part of Ukraine - the simple fact that a lot of Russians decided to live there does not give them the right to take those areas over. As with many countries, the UK has a large Asian population, mainly concentrated on a handful of larger citiies. If they wanted to break-away, should the UK let them? Give up its land? or perhaps: You believe Putins BS that he will not allow NATO on his borders - as I told you in an earlier post, that's rubbish, he already has NATO on his borders. Putin is a madman and madmen often slip up and make mistakes - he has slipped up and revealed his true thinking on a couple of occassions - he doesn't think Ukraine has a right to exist, he said it had no right to sovereignty, he simply wants it under Russia's control. The West, (and I use that word lightly because other nations such as Japan and Australia have joined in) has amazed me with the unity they've shown on this matter and what that unity shows is that by and large, democracy and freedom are alive and kicking. Contrast that to Putin's version of democracy where any opposition that looks like it might be a threat suddenly finds themselves imprisoned on spurious charges. A 'democracy' where the state controls the media and fills the heads of its citizens with its own parallel reality. A democracy that controls the judiciary and puts down the slightest dissent. You might have missed that over 4000 Russian citizens have been arrested and detained for simply holding a peaceful protest and carrying placards stating 'No War'. Today Russia passed a new law that will imprison anyone involved in the media that calls the current offensive a 'war' for 15 years! The Russia that liberated your country is not the same Russia as that of today - not by a long way. Putin wasn't even born! Any Thai citizen that is prepared to leave their homeland and fight alongside Ukranians deserves our applause, not condemnation. 4

My reply was for the poster who claimed that thai pro-democracy individuals are volunteering to ukraine as mercenaries in defence of democracy. situation now in ukraine war is much different than during spanish civil war, when international brigades from all over the world come in defence of republican democracy against fascist Franco and catholic monarchy. They were volunteers, not payed by the state mercenaries. ukrainian state and its political system is very much alike that one in russia. And its not democratic, progressive, libertarian at all. Nothing to compare to western political system, where opposition can freely speak. "Ukraine isn’t the “democracy” that Western politicians and media like to give the impression it is. In fact, the political and economic superstructure of Ukraine is not very much different from that of Russia. So the argument that it is “democratic” while Russia isn’t and that “we” must support it to defend “democratic values” is false." https://socialismoryourmoneyback.blogspot.com/2022/02/another-war.html?m=1 Edited March 4, 2022 by internationalism 1 1

internationalism
Thai, as well as the UK government, can and should refuse passport or revoke it, to protect lives of its own citizens, motivated by whatever irrational motions they have. Any war, but the class war, hasnt got anything to do with democracy and human progress. Contrary, it destroys democracy, civil society, replaced by arbitrary orders from always mad politicians and even maddier generals. War escalates nationalism, racism, divides continents, countries and families. Brings destruction and misery. Humanitarian response to any war is to keep as far as possible from military involvement, but helping civilian victims Edited March 4, 2022 by internationalism 1

Sorry, I don't want to interfere, but please get your facts right: it's not that those "Russians" decided to live there. Nothing "simple" about it. Fast rewind to Stalin (compared to which even Hitler would pale). He liked moving people around what was then a young Soviet Union. A million Russian Jews here, a million Kazakhi there, send a million to Yakutia and so on. He sent loads of ethnic Russians to Donbass, Ukraine. This was several generations ago. They didn't want to go, they had no choice. The current descendants have no fault: they were born there, their grand-parents and grand-grand were born there. A litte like US Americans today have no fault of their ancestors having seized immense territories from the Natives, or the Canadians or the Australians. I could go on about the sad state of affairs in that region but I think this is not the place as I don't want to be seen justifying the current war (which I do not condone in the least).
