Thai Rath

Thai Rath went to Pho Thong district of Ang Thong in central Thailand after a man called Somchai, 41, was hired to clear a pond of weeds and vegetation.

Somchai said that he waded in in his underpants and was soon attacked by a large number of 'pling khwai'(literally buffalo leeches) and the smaller 'pling khem' (needle leeches) all over his legs.

Worse was to come.

One of the huge blood suckers actually went inside his bottom and he had to pull it out.

When he took off his undies four leeches were present.

Rescue services were called and he was taken to Pho Thong Hospital where doctors thankfully examined his rectum where no further leeches had entered.

"That would have been terrible," recounted a very relieved Somchai as he began his recovery.

Yes, common sense, wade in muddy waters with no protection at all.. What bad could happen?

No different to working at a construction site wearing flip-flops..

Hope he didn't take them off with the old cigarette trick, burning one that looks like  a leach that turns out not to be could have been painful.

I kow it's horrible thing to happen to anyone, I do sympathise and I am glad he got treated successfully but it is also funny, a leech up your bum! Wow!
