Sun / Weather Protection for a Piano Outside

Featured Replies

I have arriving soon an upright piano which will become part pf an outdoor water feature

i intend to "coat" the entire piano, inside and out with the most effective water repellent product i can get

any suggestions please as to what product would be good

also what else would you good folk who have experienced what weather can do to outdoor timber etc, suggest may help prolong the life of the piano.

im thinking some sort of material cover, for during the day, maybe a Canvacon, or PVC material, as the water feature will only be used / on at night.

Thank You.

.

Just the changes in temperature from blazing hot to sticky wet to cool season will make this a very bad idea. Not to mention keeping it in tune or rain and sun....are you sure you want to do this ?

Thanks

tonray and blackcab

It is an old piano,  and it is not in anyway going to be used as a piano, to play

it is purely for visual, it will have a large rockpool at the front with a pump constantly recycling the water over the keyboard

i do realise "the elements are going to play havoc with it and a little more hunting down today got me thinking to possibly apply a waterproof sealer all over the piano. and ha

I'm not sure, but I have seen clear 2 part epoxy used on floors. I was thinking about this myself, kinda like a 3d floor, I would think the uv rays would be another issue for you.
