they don't care, the lot are filling their pockets

I what really bothers me is that suddenly Russian thieves have become the focus of attention and their extreme wealth, they ### stole it from the people, there are many in Thailand that need to explain their extreme wealth especially over the last 6 years - we have billionaire cops - army chiefs, MP's etc etc.......were did it come from ?,  where is it coming from right now ?

Us, Go to the UK  and try and buy a house with cash - you will be arrested

go to the UK and try opening a bank acc

steal from the Thai people for years and go buy a property in Kensington, not a question asked.......................excuse me, where did this $300m come from - I am/was a general in the Thai military - it was my salary.....I saved hard for 1000 years are you stupid why you ask me that.......................?

Birds of a feather.

Continuing any relationship with Russia could have serious implications in the near future.

If this war expands, which hopefully won't happen, the neutral stance won't hold water!

I would say I was shocked but the money grubbing corrupt dinosaur clans that rule this place never really shock me. I will be happy to be out of it all.

Yeah, not really sure there is any overarching strategy here other than to deny, deflect, obfuscate, appease....

I mean,

At UN, Thailand votes to condemn Russia’s aggression in Ukraine

During the 11th Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Thailand has joined 140 countries voting in favour of the resolution to condemn Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, while 5 voted against and 35 abstained.

Vietnam and the Lao PDR were the only ASEAN countries to abstain, as well as countries such as China, India, Iran, and Iraq. The five states voting against the resolution were Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea and Syria.

Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, explained that Thailand carefully considered the draft and voted in support of the resolution because of the overriding importance Thailand attaches to the principles contained in the United Nations Charter and international law, in particular respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and the non-use of force against countries.

The thai chamber of commerce really isn't representative of the government, they're just participating in the appeasement theatre as a minor character.

True......and then issued a statement clarifying their position, which somehow failed to contain the word Russia at any point in the text????

Nine out of ten ASEAN countries, including Thailand are taking neutral stance.

The one exception is Singapore.

Above is of course ignored and Not pointed out on mainstream western media as well as most English-language media.   Much are biased.

Most are military dictatorships, too. US/Europe/Japan should keep that in mind with their trade and investment policies towards Asean.

there is no such thing as neutral, the Swisses tried it and didn't work, Thailand tried it with Japan and didn't not, here I only see an answer, same as their big brothers in China do, they are Russia neutral and everybody knows what that means add to that Thailand love for the $$$$$$ and we all know what they mean by being neutral  they are a bunch of double face government, nothing else

China says it's neutral when it comes to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Domestically however, China is signaling it is solidly on Russia's side.

China neutral?

March 15, 2022:

China has already decided provide Russia with economic and financial support and possibly sending mi,Italy supplies such as armed drones.

The US expects it can change China's support.

The Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC) said he agreed with the government’s decision to remain neutral in the Ukraine war.

Spineless people.

By staying neutral in the Russian/Ukraine war you are in effect condoning Russian aggression in invading Ukraine, however, since Thailand supported the last UN resolution this clearly seems to be some official opening his mouth before engaging brain.

I suppose the Thai government would have no issue with the rest of the world being "neutral" when China inevitably moves to place Thailand. under CCP control.

I fail to see how anyone can claim to be neutral in this. If you fail to condemn the unprovoked war unleashed by Putin's Russia on its peaceful neighbour then you are effectively condoning it.

There is no room for prevarication here, no amount hedging one's bets, no constant dribble of mealy-mouthed words can ever hide the fact that there is only one aggressor who instigated this war.

People will not forget Thailand’s tacit approval in this shameful chase for tourist revenue and, if the idea is that extra numbers of Russian tourists will somehow compensate for lost business from elsewhere, it would be laughable were it not so tragic. Just how many Russians do they imagine will be taking holidays abroad over the coming years with their economy in ruins?

It is a very straightforward choice. Stand with the angels of Ukraine or you deserve to perish with Putin and his coterie of the grotesque.

Another U.N. Resolution, another supporting vote from thailand. Hardly neutral.

Thailand backs UN resolution calling for end to violence in Ukraine

The resolution received 140 votes, calling for an end to the violence, respect for international humanitarian laws, access for aid, and protection of civilians in Ukraine.

Thailand is among seven Asean countries that voted in favour, five countries (Russia, Syria, North Korea, Eritrea and Belarus) voted against and 38 countries (including Vietnam, China, India and Iran) abstained.
