I normally visit my Thai wife using either a 90 day spouse visa or a visa exempt 30 days as a UK passport holder. This visit I entered visa exempt & have 14 days validity remaining but a change in circumstances means that I can now stay longer, potentially until approx. 07th July. Never had to extend an entry previously so would appreciate advice on what my options are & what sort of paperwork I would need to prepare?

Thanks

You can extend your visa exempt entry by 30 days.

After that you can obtain a covid extension.

Alternatively you can obtain 60 day extension to visit wife.

You could even obtain a non O marriage that would give you 90 day stamp.

However that would require 400k in bank on the day you apply.

Visa exempt get a very easy 30 day extension. Just need to fill in the TM7 extension request, copy of passport page, entry stamp, TM6 and a photo + 1900 baht.

You will also need a TM30 if not staying in a hotel (who by law must file a TM30).

After that you can get a 60 day covid extension or a 60 day visit wife extension

Thank you for the speedy response Dr. Jack.

Could I do the 30 day extension then the 60 day extension to visit wife as I see that Thai authorities looking to class Covid as endemic so I would guess that would mean no Covid extensions

The covid extensions have been extended till May 25.

I would obtain the covid extension after the 30 day extension.

Keep the 60 to visit wife up your sleeve.

You would need to obtain 30 day standard extension prior to covid extension

Think Surin already did that. Bit weird.

In any event the covid extensions will be issued up to approx May 25.

With your current dates for expiry of current permit a 30 day extension followed by covid extension will work fine.

I have been getting the documents ready & checking office locations online. As I am in Bangkok can I go to any of the immigration offices at Chaengwattana, Chamchuri Square or Muang Thong Thani?

If any of these are allowed are is any better than the others as I found a link to book an appointment at Muang Thong Thani but not the others so far. I am guessing a pre booked appointment would be good but that office appears to be the furthest to travel to.

You must attend MTT as you entered on visa exempt.

OK office and far less busy than CW.

If you cannot find clear directions to location post back.

Thanks Dr. Jack, I have found directions online to the location in Nonthaburi & MTT seem to allow to book an appointment online so will proceed with making arrangements.

Unless you are staying in Nonthaburi province you cannot apply at that immigration office.

If living staying in Bangkok the MTT office is the only one you can use.

General Information Only ( non- applicable to OP Case): 60 day post -visa exempt extension also possible for Thai Child Visit. Covid Extension not now possible if you have held any expired Longstay Visa during Covid.

I'm not sure what the go is.

After jan 25 it seemed that eligibility was about how you entered Thailand.

So if tv or visa exempt and obtained a non O later you still could obtain a CE.

That was my understanding based on reading articles at the time but NO. My expired ED Visa /Extension of Stay, prevented my getting a third CE mid March so got Family Visit Extension.
