Social Studies teacher exposed in "sex for grades" scandal in NE

Daily News Thai Caption: Sex in exchange for (good) grades

 

Police made an arrest at a "maan root" or curtain hotel short time sex room in Surin, reported Daily News.

 

A teacher called "Doo" had taken 17 year old "A" - an M3 pupil - for sex there.

 

He had picked her up in a Mitsubishi near the school supposedly to help her get better grades.

 

Instead he drove the unsuspecting teen to the resort, sat with her a while then tried to molest her.

 

But the police were soon at the door.

Their job had been made easy by a member of the public who had been following the activities of the Social Science teacher who it is alleged took many underage children for sex.

 

According to "A" while they were in the room the teacher had announced:

 

"So what's it to be, 500 baht or 2,000 baht".

 

The mother of the victim said that she had been contacted by the school director who was more worried about face saving and keeping the matter hushed up.

 

The mother's response to that was: I'm prosecuting this to the full extent of the law. 

 

Meanwhile the teacher has denied everything.

The NE of Thailand is pretty much a law on-it-self place where what is not ok elsewhere is very ok in the NE and vice-versa, different society to the central plains crowds...

I think M3 students are close to 15 than 17.

 

A friend of mine was teaching English at a school in Issan. He had a M6 girl...17....rubbing up against him any chance she got. She was an A student.

That brings up the question: How many people knew what was going on, maybe for years? And how many people accepted it or didn't want to get involved and whatever.

It seems nobody is surprised when just another case like this is made public.

In how many schools does that happen? And what happens if any accusations like that come up in schools? Do the schools investigate? And if they find something, what do they do: Tell the teacher not to do it again and we forget about this little misunderstanding? Or maybe tell the parents of the molested children to better shut up or else?

 

I suspect (without any hard evidence) that a lot like this is going on. And a lot of people know about it, including the schools and including the parents. And most of them let it happen.

There is always a reason, it doesnt have to be a good one as long as they can buy some time and save some face.  This happens much more than people realise but is often swept under the carpet when financial terms are agreed

Something very much like this happened to a teacher, where I work (in Isaan) and the guy was sacked, it was never spoke about again, so maybe pushing the problem elsewhere.

1: School doesn't protect students it shields the perpetrators.

2: Caught in the act he still denies everything.

Let me get the popcorn, it is private lesson show again.

The girl of course expected Father Christmas or Easterbunny to show up for some "rian piset" (extra studies) and wonder over wonder is surprised. 

The girl will pass, the school will not be named, the teacher has to fork over brown manila envelopes and in less than a week nobody remembers anything. 

I've been reading such news for almost 40 years working and living in Thailand; meanwhile the next generation of horny teachers with saucy ideas are roaming the halls of the divine educational institutes of Khon Thai. Explains possibly, why after 15 years of education, the kiddies still no absolutely nothing!
