Mrs Connda and I will spend another laid-back Songkran hanging out with the 7 dogs, 1 cat, and a bird. Mr. Connda may actually have two or three Thai 'panther-<deleted>' brews to celebrate - "Whoopee." And with the unseasonable coolness and rain up here in the North, I have a flower patch along the soi leading to the backyard driveway to weed and replant as well as working some ox-poop into the vegetable garden as I hope for an early Rain Season. Of course - Maskless - as we are both quite happy leading a hermit lifestyle sans the normal celebration and visitors.

Popular Post alphonse
Tourists. As usual, first thought how much they will spend. I suppose this is to be expected, especially in these difficult times, but do they all have to make it so obvious. It's not difficult to get the wrong impression ... "just dump your funds at the airport and catch the next plane back from where you came." ???? Perhaps they would present a more attractive option if they demonstrated, and publicised, a desire to prevent tourists being ripped off from the moment they step into the first taxi away from Swampy and attended to some of the intrusive rules which range from the absurd ones surrounding the purchase of alcohol to the need to constantly report your whereabouts if you stay in other than a hotel and similar, and onto the need to carry your passport at all times. I could go on. I half expect there to be some little guy at the airport looking each tourist up and down and assessing how much they will spend, before writing it in his notebook, which is then sent daily to the authorities. madmitch
30 minutes ago, hotchilli said: Amazing foresight. If she said they expected 50-55,000 visitors of which around 30% were expected to be non-Thai it would be slightly more believable! They don't even know the basics of statistical forecasting! I'd assume her survey souce would he hotels, airlines and ferries but with TAT it could be a few random phone calls until they came across two or three potential visitors.
