Can you imagine an Ignition Interlock system being mandated and enforced on drivers, who have been arrested and convicted and as a condition of their release and obtaining a license once again, to actually have one installed here on their cars or MC.

But when he gets out will it deter him from driving....think not

Nope.

Only reason he copped jail time is he is a repeat offender.

but that is not the question I was replying to.

Good point.

They should ban the sales of alcohol with immediate effect. ????

Ever since this covid malarky came to town and the first sign of booze bans I now always have enough beer, wine and spirits in the storeroom to keep me lubricated for atleast 1 month.

but yes, a snap ban would catch out many.

Just follow what works. Take Australia model. If driver is drunk, car goes into press. With 12 years of payments left on it, that's quite a harsh punishment...

In Aus they only crush repeat offenders.

Do banks here really give out car loans over 12 yr period ?

Please show me a drunk that has a license.

The girlfriends brother.

he is doing 18 months for drink driving, also copped a 20k fine and licence suspended for 5 years.

Say it ain't so! Many AseanNow contributors will tell you that everyone only wais and receives a 500 baht fine. And that is even more boring than the 'if you don't like it here then go back home' brigade. Thanks for confirming that people really do go to jail in Thailand. Must come as a shock to many.

The first loan my now ex-wife received was for 7 years and that was on an already 6 year old Mercedes she bought from a friend who was still making payments.........She bought it for 300k less then the friend had initially paid 6 years prior, what a joke on how much resold cars command here.  And so in essence the bank was getting 13 years of payments.  Stupid
