I don't have anything handy or really detailed.   But when looking at the DLT stats for RY1, 2, and 3 vehicle categories for Jan 2024 (2567) (see snapshot 1)  total vehicle registrations (i.e., ICE, EV, Hybrid, etc) in those three categories totaled 81,098.   And when looking at the same registration data but for Jan 2025 (2568) the total is 68,009 which is approx 16% lower than Jan 2024.   Vehicle registrations for January of this year is worst than same time last year....an ongoing vehicles sales (and financing) slump.

Snapshot 1: Jan 2024 registrations

So it does appear EV market share is increasing (cue: Vinny)

R.Y.3 is

They must be no wider than 2.50 meters, no longer than 12 meters, and the length of the body measured from the center of the rear axle to the rear of the vehicle must not be more than 3/5 of the length measured from the center of the front axle to the center of the rear axle, such as a pickup bed, a cargo van, a pickup bed with a roof, etc.

Type 1: Private passenger cars with no more than 7 seats (R.Y.1) are cars that must be no wider than 2.50 meters and no longer than 12 meters, such as single-cab sedans, double-cab sedans, double-cab vans with two seats and a cargo area at the back, etc.

Addiing R,Y.3 to the mix is adding commercial vehicles

Are we getting the Atto 2 in Thailand?

I think it will do well.

See my earlier post. They're testing prototypes here already. So I guess it'll be available in Thailand soon. Maybe announce at the Motorshow in April

Seems the lady in the video was overly excited about being able to relocate some icons and using 3 fingers to adjust A/C temp and fan speed.....also excited about the voice commands.  Seems the Atto 2 is the result of an Atto 3 and Dolphin one night stand.

IMO the Atto 2 may not have  enough different specs from the  Dolphin or Atto 3 to excite many people....it's seems to be kinda  a step up from the Dolphin but a step down from the Atto 3.   And I don't tihnk BYD wants to jeopardize the outstanding sales success it's having with the Dolphin in Thailand.

I see the Dolphin as smaller than the MG4 and the Atto 3 larger than the MG4, perhaps the Atto 2 is a direct competitor to the MG4?

I hope to get some time with the car in a few days when the red plate tour of extended family is concluded!

I was planning to do a video review of my new BYD M6, but before it was my time to have a play with the car my wife parked it at 7-11 at a "pump"

She was returning to the car with baby in hand when a Nissan pickup truck reversed straight back 10m into the M6 barely missing wife and baby.

Despite the desperate scream of my wife and shouts from passersby he continued his rearward trajectory into the car.

Wife was quite shaken and it was left to the passersby to berate the Nissan driver over his near infanticide and also damaging a red plate, which apparently is a very unlucky thing to do in Thailand.

He apologized and blamed the accident on his broken reversing camera!

Wife called me and told her to:

1) call the insurance company

2) get photos of everything and everybody

3) get contact details of any witnesses

4) check the dashcam if she had left the Aircon on while she was in 7

Only number 1 was accomplished but it turned out we had the same insurance company which simplified matters as he admitted responsibility.

The bonnet and the 2 sections below it had a big dent in them while the Nissan had a broken tail light.

By the time I got there the lower two section which were plastic had popped back to their original shape.

We have just got back from the body repair shop who checked the car and will be ordering parts from BYD. I will do an update on how things progress.
