Is it hybrid?  I can't have charging at home, so don't want a 100% EV.

Not being able to charge at home doesn’t rule out an EV.

I have a septuagenarian lady friend with an MG4 X-Power who can’t charge at home.  She charges at PTT stations and has a coffee in Amazon while she waits, it typically takes her under 30 minutes.

Charging at PTT in this way is still about half the cost of running a petrol car.

The biggest issue I have with Chat-GPT’s analysis is it is not considering  the financial stability of Nissan. I would not buy a new Nissan under any circumstances.

From what I've found, Nissan's recent restructuring seems to have secured its future, in Asia anyway.

MG3 is hard to beat for knocking around town, or on the highway, at excellent price point.  I prefer, need more space, and a bit more comfort for my ol' bones, hence having the ZS, aside from being BEV/100% battery.  MG3 would definitely be fun to scoot around town in.

MG3 is HEV, no charging necessary.  Hence the no 'P' / PHEV = plug in.

Another advantage MG, large dealer network, & growing.   Nissan network shrinking, as I notice Geely / Riddara are taking over some Nissan dealerships, as they expand.

Big plus for MG & BYD, large dealer network (with charging), for convenient check ups.  SAIC / MG being state owned auto makers, and not going bankrupt anytime soon, if ever.  MG has been in TH, 10+ yrs already.

BYD certainly isn't going anywhere soon, and provide the batteries for many auto makers, along with CATL.  Control ~55% of the EV battery market, 16% & 38% respectfully.

Under a million for sure - 600-800 ideally.

My personal choice would be Honda City Hatchback in top trim. It has a small but powerful and economic engine with hybrid system and good driver assistance systems. I also very much like the hatchback style

Their restructuring doesn’t fix their sales numbers, profitability or outlook.

They have bought some breathing time, that’s all.

Their S&P credit rating is still “Junk”.

Wife says, she saw somewhere that BYD announced a full electric pickup in TH for the end of the year. Did anyone see this?

I m reluctant to buy the riddara rd6 seeing the issues Neta V owners have now. Neta even had dealerships, but very little repair centers and no spare parts. Geely seems in the same situation to me.

Therefore my hope for something affordable pickup size from BYD.

May be BYD Shark, but that is a Hybrid.

I have always said that Teslas are overpriced in Thailand.

In this example from the Tesla store, they have knocked half a million off the price of a prefacelift Model Y AWD Performance, but it’s still half a million more that the brand new BYD Sealion 7 AWD Performance.

I was poking around in a Hyptec HT yesterday. Not to buy but because they were showing them at Chaeng Wattana and I had some time to kill. Expensive for here, similarly priced to the Tesla Model Y (a bit cheaper) but SOOOOOO much nicer and plusher inside, and much better specced. You get airline style tables in the rear, reclining rear seats to 143 degrees, 22 speaker Dolby Atmos sound system. Ventilated and massaging seats.

1,749,000 for the Gullwing luxury, or 1,449,000 for the standard version.

Not sure I'd buy one for that price but I would definitely have one over the Tesla any day of the week if I did want to spend Tesla money.

Never say never but I doubt that Riddara goes down the drain as Neta. That Geely conglomerate is too big and has too many brands.

That's a really nice truck, as I peeked at one, at their Ratchaburi dealer (Neta signed).  Nice price point also, and got some features to it.

Starting to build a network, and not bad for just getting here in TH.   Few in the metros, and a few around Krung Thep

The SAIC / MG MAXUS 9 is supposed to be coming, but a bit too plush for me, along with a hefty price tag of 2-2.5M baht.   I don't need that much truck :cheesy:

It just came to my mind. There is a Thai company named NEX point, who's converting regular pickups and busses to EVs. You might want have a look. They are reasonably priced. From the exterior look I'd say the pick up base is a Nissan Navara
