Not-on-Tinder: I met some super nice guy yesterday in CM. A man with some class! Amazing.
Remember the gopher in the film CaddyShack? Well, playing golph at such an advanced age is hilarious, too. Most guys over age 45 just no longer have the strength for it, to play it well. Instead, they should be doing rounds on one of those pitch and putt courses, or maybe even miniature golf. CaddyShack was a dynamite movie with Candy. Poor old Candy... He died far to young. He was one of those guys that truly deserved to live. -

Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?
World Wide taxation was "suggested" as an objective by the current TRD head who said they were working on the specifics...... Since this should have to go through Parliament and be subject to much discussion even if it goes ahead it is almost impossible that the start point would be before 2025 (so returns in 2026) and realistically later. -

How to retire in Thailand
yes, good question @martyn1 That was my thought too. As long as my money is in Thai economy ... @ CW I got negative reply - no investment / trading etc. Plain vanilla deposit. Ok. I went to Bangkok Bank HQ @ Silom. The Big Kahuna manager said "yes, please buy Bangkok Bank mutual fund bonds" it will work just as good as deposit. (not a dumb teller, real manager). So 2020 I "bought" 6 months something for 100K. I got passbook which was good and was accepted (at CW at non-formal request) and in 6 months I saw I made (mutual fund made for me, how sweet!) 1.700 thb on the updated passbook. So I guess it was not wise at all. -

HSBC Global Money Debit Card
Yup... If you already have an HSBC account its handy... I've used it all over. But, Wise is also very handy.... I link both to Apple Pay and have found both useful... It really depends which currencies you wish to use - as HSBC Global money does not cover all currencies and neither does Wise. -

Billy Eilish's "Birds of a Feather" - is it better than anything by the Beatles?
I enjoy the music and I can relax to it. I also the big band music of the 1930s and 1940s as well as traditional jazz. I am not so keen on modern jazz from the 1960s though. -

Thailand’s Business Ease Ranking Plummets in Asia-Pacific: Survey
Possibly will have little effect in the medium term. You only have to see what 'western' politicians are doing to their economies to have doubts about the outcome. Of course there has always been corruption in high places; with characters the likes of Horatio Bottomley. But I would suggest that many of those who in past times went into politics later in life after making their mark in some other sphere, did so with a relative disinterest in the paltry remuneration it then offered. Nowadays, politics is often seen as a life-long, well-paid career opportunity by young people graduating from university where they studied the subject. The motivations are likely to be somewhat different. -

Getting a credit card
Of course the bank would say no, but if you were to present a bank book used as secured deposit to immigraiton, how could immigration tell? in my BBL book, it just looks like any other termed deposit book with regular interest payment in, no withdrawal out, just how immigratin like your accounts to be untouched
