Insurance requirement may be removed very soon but they need to figure out how to verify vaccination status before completely removing thai pass. They need to bring airlines for verification process and may be random check during entry and keep the Thailand pass for unvaccinated travellers.

Yes.

But the test on arrival was main gamestopper with the risk of being locked up either in some "hospitel" with a view over highway or a private hospital money drain.

Also for vaccinated visitors the costly test before departure is voided.

However, once done on your holiday and wishing to return to the US a test must be completed prior to flying....still travel issues for many, especially if they test positive on that test.

I am a fully vaccinated retiree in Thailand living in Krabi and would like to drive down to Penang for a break. I am aware of transport requirements regarding insurance etc. but still uncertain of rest of paperwork. Would anyone be able to give me some information, mainly concerned about getting back, thanks.

Yes indeed, like Cambodia where face masks are no longer mandatory other than in confined spaces. Reference 26/04/2022 - also includes foreigners:

"PM Hun Sen has announced that Cambodians will no longer be required to wear masks in open spaces..............

exempt the duty of wearing a mask in public places and open places other than closed places, leaving the people to make their own decisions to wear a mask or not .’ The PM further explained that the requirement is still in place for closed spaces – i.e. an air-conditioned meeting room or a crowded movie theater"

If the 300 baht entry fee is for insurance why the continuance of the USD10,000 requirement.  We already pay 500 baht exit fee.  This is nothing more than another money grab by corrupt officials.

The insurance provided by the 300 baht entrance fee is not going to replace travel insurance.

At 300 baht, the pot would run dry very quickly if it did.

But won't tourists arriving be covered for insurance by the proposed 300THB scheme?

Nationals of Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Malaysia can opt to obtain their Border Pass for entry, which does not require travel insurance.

So they continue with the " multiple clarification" of tourists.

Once double standards, always double standards.

That habit won't die here anytime soon!  ????

....and it appears it's going to take the less than insightful Thai authorities many more months to pick up on this.

The more reasonable and logical approach to this long and winding circus would've been to trash the TP/insurance scam as well when they discontinued the T&G program.

The exemplary learning curve could be questionable within this circle - as such tends to be their reflective history.

It does not keep any "disease ridden" person out of Thailand. If fully vaccinated against Covid-19, you are free to enter with gonorrhoea, heart disease, tuberculosis, cancer, Covid-19, yellow fever or any other disease.

It is at least a relief and also a cost saving. The risk of an expensive forced quarantine is also abolished. But I would like more informative details. What about a married couple (both vaccinated 3 times) with a 11-year-old unvaccinated child?

I like all those stories that came out about people reporting their hospitel stay was quite nice, the food wascquite nice, we even got to walk in the garden, etc with the name of the hospitel included of course.

I'm pretty sure these were fake news bites put out by the hospitels.
