Insurance for OA visa

Featured Replies

I am just about to apply for a yearly extension for my OA Visa (based on retirement) And I have been advised that the Health Insurance requirement is now 3.500.000 for inpatient and 60,000 for outpatient, can anyone advise if this is correct. I am asking here as it is a long trip to immigration and I am hoping to sort this out today. Many thanks

The current extension of stay finishes on the 4th June 2022.

Who told you that you need the increased OA insurance? They even gave you the wrong amounts.

Look at this webpage on the TGIA site.https://longstay.tgia.org/guidelineoa

The incorrect amount was provided to me by my current Insurance company. Anyhow, thank you for the info.

Now that the borders are open why wouldn't you switch to an "O" visa and not deal with the insurance?

In answer to your question Claysmc, It is because I am 72 years old, if the rules should change to include "O" visa applicants needing Insurance I would not be able to get coverage due to my age. I have thought about making the change but it's not worth the risk.

Thanks. I'm in the same boat, but the insurance I have is the “throw away” kind, so I wouldn't have much to lose. But if I did have a decent policy, I'd want to keep it, too.
