Hi,

I wish to be able to visit the UK for 2 weeks this Christmas with my wife (Thai). We are going to visit my family and will be having a celebration party for our Wedding, the legal side of which will take place this Tuesday.

We have been together 1 year now and have some proof in the way of photos and a couple of e-mails from this stage. The next part of the relationship was dating and land line phone calls within Bangkok so no itemised bills etc. However we do have photos from friends, parents visiting etc. We have been living together since April. My wife has an office job with a salary of 18000 bhat plus commision, house and car (in her name) to come back to. Also my folks will act as a guarentee financially. I should add that I work in Bangkok and have been here since the relationship started.

Is it looking anywhere near covered? She has no bar history or attempts at visas for any European country prior to this.

Many thanks in advance.

They (at the embassy) appear to be interested in things like.. How long you've known each other, how much money you'll have to support her while there (they know the cost of flights), and you both looking respectable when you arrive at the embassy. It sounds daft, but I've seen what appear to be blatant bar girls wearing very little over the shoulders and/or cleavages and some even with tattoos showing! A good idea is a letter from your folks inviting her and saying that they'll put her up and feed her for the duration of her stay. If either of you work here (it appears your wife does) then a letter from her boss saying that there's a job for her to come back to helps. well, it did for us last year.

Good luck and enjoy the weather! :D:D
