During the 21st iteration of the country's largest exercise, Taming Sari 21/2022, which took place in the north of the Strait of Malacca between May 16 and 20, 2022, the Royal Malaysian Navy cruiser KD LEKIR live-fired an Exocet missile.

Today, we saw the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) assets undertake the exercise TAMING SARI Series 21 of 2022, which included real missile launches.
This is also the end of Operational Sea Training Exercise West (OSTEX WEST) 1/22, which took place from May 16 to 20, 2022 with Royal Malaysian Fleet forces.

TAMING SARI brought together 1,250 personnel from the Royal Malaysian Navy, Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), and Maritime Enforcement Agency Malaysia (MMEA).
Ten naval ships, five fast attack craft (FAC), three RMN aircraft, three RMAF aircraft, and two MMEA aircraft took part in the exercise.

KD LEKIR, a Kasturi-class corvette, launched an EXOCET MM40 missile in the seas of the Strait of North Malacca as part of the drill.
The target, which was 20 nautical miles away, was hit with pinpoint accuracy (or 36 kilometers).

The missile's successful strike on the target demonstrates not only RMN personnel's ability and expertise in handling the country's defence assets, but also RMN's readiness to ensure that the country's waters remain safe and sovereign.

Because a new missile system will be deployed as soon as the previous system becomes obsolete throughout this two-year timeframe, the RMN's missile systems will always be at the maximum level of readiness.
