Thai opposition MPs slam allegedly widespread corruption in government

Opposition Pheu Thai MPs zeroed in today (Thursday), the scheduled last day of the three-day debate on the 2023 annual national budget, on alleged widespread corruption in numerous projects in different departments.

 

The Lower House is set to vote this evening whether to accept in principle the draft budget bill worth 3.18 trillion baht, an increase of 2.74% from last year.

The party’s deputy leader, Yutthapong Charassathien, of Maha Sarakham province, told the Lower House that he could not accept the bill because it contains irregularities and lacks transparency in projects like the water pipeline supply concession in the Eastern Economic Corridor, Chinese submarines, which still have problems with their engines, the planned procurement of F-35 fighter jets, which do not have a weapons system, and overly expensive unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

how many budgets over the last 2.5 years - trillions, where is the money ?

 

no fiscal accountability 

 

and quite frankly Pheu Thai would do no different 

 

a fine example of what happens look no futher than Russia - all their big cruisers and properties all over the world worth billions - all money they stole off the people, my opinion is Thailand is actually worse, what can the Thai people do about it - well that is really dire .................................. but it needs to happen unfortunately

Well since I read on here almost daily that those in-charge are soldiers with a low IQ, that reckoning of their published should not be too hard to uncover.

It would take a major investigation by a very talented team of forensic accountants and investigators, to uncover all the wealth being stolen. Most is likely parked overseas. We are likely talking about trillions of baht. Manhattan penthouses, Swiss villas, and billions of dollars. Nobody knows the real extend of the swindle. But, one this is for sure. This administration is as corrupt as any we have seen. Prayuth makes Thaksin look like a boy scout. A true wolf in sheep's clothing. 

 

I applaud the opposition for calling them out. However, they have yet to prove they would be any different or more honorable. Hopefully, they will get a chance at some point.

 

Oust the dinosaurs, and lock them up.

The transparency and accountability that so many demand from politicians and police would likely lead to the same being expected of every citizen.  This makes it unlikely to actually happen.
