Grand jury indicts former Trump aide Navarro for contempt of Congress over Capitol riot probe

A federal grand jury has indicted Peter Navarro, a former Trump White House adviser, on criminal contempt of Congress charges over his refusal to cooperate in the House investigation of the January 6th attack.

 

The indictment comes after the House voted in April to refer Navarro to the Justice Department for failing to comply with a February subpoena from the House Select Committee on the January 6 Capitol riot.

 

Navarro was charged with one contempt count for his refusal to appear for a deposition, and another for his refusal to produce documents requested by the committee, despite the subpoena from the January 6 committee, the Justice Department said Friday.

They won't be able to last that long. They'll need to plead the fifth which won't be a good look and nobody besides Trump will pardon them because of the political cost. It's also looking unlikely that Trump will get the nomination. His civil cases will be settled by then and there's a non zero chance that he'll be indicted for the insurrection.

I guess excluding postal votes would prevent overseas stationed military and Americans working overseas from voting. Additionally, anybody who is unable to attend a voting center in person due to illness would also be excluded. Not likely to happen

Is that Trump appointed postal chief still in there to jam up the mail during the election?

It was quite obvious last election the the Democrats were going to stay away from the polls, mail in the ballots because of the pandemic while the rube demographic was being convinced that "it's just the flu" and crowd into the polling centers.

Certainly a concern that the President is spreading false facts about this Jan 6th protest. Not helpful at all, and not an environment where justice can be fairly meted out.

Yea, it was just a "peaceful protest' where participants (morons that believed Trump) show up in bulletproof tactical military gear, carry pitchforks and baseball bats, smash 150 police guards, scale the walls with climbing gear, enter the premises by breaking down doors and windows, chase the congressmen into safe rooms, erect a gallows and chant "hang the Vice President."

Its been 2 years and they have found only a small number guilty of anything major other than trespass and damage(not insurection), they are also refusing to realease all the footage of what really happened as well as more about certain people involved, while the law needs to be followed they really appear to be doing only what may benefit themselves and not the US people, would like to see the truth coming out and not just the political claims trying to whitewash what really happened while refusing to do anything about the riots that destroyed so many lives and cities, this is making this whole thing look like a total farce

You do know the FBI has proven Far-Right extremists incited violence at BLM protests & three self-identified boogaloo boys were arrested in Nevada for conspiracy to instigate violence at a George Floyd protest.

Step 1. Mock a black NFL player for taking a knee to peacefully protest police brutality.

Step 2. Send in the white supremacists into the peaceful street protest to instigate violence. 
Step 3. Have Fox report over and over and over again that antifa did it. 
Step 4. Have the low info fan boys repeat it on social media. 
Step 5. Convince these fools they are patriots, the election was stolen and have them interrupt the counting the votes.

The president did trigger the BLM protests when he mocked the black quarterback.....because it would benefit his campaign by agitating his racist base.

I have no doubt that someone, probably Roger Stone & Bannon told the proud boys and other white supremacists to provoke the situation by infiltrating the protests.... as proven by the FBI reports and arrests.

Don't worry, it will all come out at the January 6 committee hearings starting Thursday (Friday morning our time).  You're right that it's mostly small fry getting indicted now.  But the one's responsible--all the way to the top--should be getting some attention from the DOJ soon.  Justice will be done.
