Clarification of VOA for American..

Asking for a friend arriving in the next 2-3 weeks..

 

I thought I knew how this works but a friend has asked, and trying to confirm online has me confused now.

 

My understanding has been that Americans can receive 30 day VOA, with 15 day extension available at Immigration in Jomtien.

Americans receive a 30 day exempt entry - not a VOA and it can be extended at immigration for a further 30 days.

Thank you for your answer. Probably my own inconclusive online search resulted from my use of VOA, since obviously visa-exempt is not the same concept.

 

And 30 day extension is possible?
